Wednesday Study Class 3: Wheat and the Tares, Mustard Seed, and Leaven

Listen Later

In this week’s study, we reflected on three of Christ’s parables that reveal the mystery of the Kingdom of God. The parable of the Wheat and the Tares reminds us that good and evil grow side by side in this world, and that final judgment belongs to God alone. We are called to be patient, to remain faithful wheat, and to resist the temptation to uproot what we think is tares before the Lord Himself separates them in His perfect justice. This is both a warning—that evil is real and judgment is coming—and a comfort, since God is not absent, but patiently allowing time for repentance.

The parables of the Mustard Seed and the Leaven then give us hope and encouragement. The Kingdom of God does not expand through force or worldly power, but through grace that works quietly and powerfully. From the smallest beginnings, like a mustard seed, God brings forth abundant life, and like leaven hidden in flour, His love transforms everything it touches. These parables call us to trust in God’s timing and to remain faithful, knowing that one day the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father.
