Paul was an active suffragette and is one of the first people to propose an equal rights amendment amendment be added to the constitution. In 1912, Paul and friends organized a women's march to coincide with Woodrow Wilson's inauguration. When that event commenced the following March, Paul and her suffragists were so prominent that male onlookers insulted and assaulted the women marchers as the police looked on. We will also discuss the mistreatment Paul endured while imprisoned and how it likely led to Wilson endorsing Women’s Suffrage!

On this week’s episode of Wednesday's Women, join Kaitlyn, Taylor, and special guest Tree Layton Zuzzio for a candid conversation about Shirley Chisholm. Chisholm was the first African American woman elected to congress. While she wasn’t fighting for suffrage alongside Cady Stanton or Anthony, we have discussed the idea that the 19th Amendment did not extend to ALL women.
