WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon

Katie was successfully treated for Wilms’ tumor, a malignant kidney tumor, and thyroid cancer. She was diagnosed with Wilms’ tumor just before her 4th birthday. She had blood in her urine and had been out of sorts. Her parents took her to the pediatrician, who could feel something in her abdomen. The tumor was stage 4 when she was diagnosed and she had surgery to remove the tumor on her 4th birthday. Dr. Diller understands not only the medical side of cancer, but also the interpersonal side and how it affects kids physically and mentally.

Mikey, Joe and Mut closes out the 2014 Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon.

Lisa Scherber joins Mikey Adams, Joe Castiglione and Mike Mutnansky. Lisa is the Director of Patient and Family Programs at the Jimmy Fund, and one of the driving forces behind the Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon.

Rich Murphy joins Mikey Adams and Joe Castiglione. Rich has participated in successful clinical trials and immunotherapies to treat his melanoma. Rich currently shows no sign of melanoma after being on 2 immunotherapy drugs.

Joe and Lou are joined by Don Block during the 2014 WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Telethon, and Northeast Electrical is challenging people to make donations and they will match between the fourth and sixth innings.

Tyler is 13 years old and a patient at the Jimmy Fund Clinic. Tyler was diagnosed with leukemia in 2011, and had chemotherapy three times a week for a year. He now has appointments at the Clinic once a month, and he speaks to school groups about his experience. He starts 7th grade in a few weeks.

Ron Duval, Sales Support Manager for Lexus Eastern Area, joined Joe & Lou Merloni in the booth at Fenway. Lexus made a matching donation during a portion of tonight's ballgame.

Dr. Alyea is a hematologist who treats patients with blood cancers that need stem cell transplants. He thanked everyone for the outpouring of support for Dana-Farber.

Trish was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer in January of 2013. She had a mastectomy, radiation, chemotherapy and targeted therapy infusions and now has no sign of cancer. She finished treatment in January of this year. Dr. Overmoyer launched the Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) Program at Dana-Farber in 2009, where she continues to serve as Director and the principal investigator of many IBC research programs and clinical trials.
