For NFL players, I assume that getting a bye isn’t a bad thing. I don’t really know since I’m not a NFL player, but if I was one, I’d like it. It’s a week of rest during a long season of 17 regular season games, 3 pre-season games, and before those, several weeks of training camp and organized team practice activities (OTAs). In the playoffs, a bye week is an additional week of rest before a tough 3-game stretch (hopefully) of playoff games. Only one team per conference gets a playoff bye week now as well as home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
