Today we are talking about a mate from Kellie's homeland of Australia, Mr.Cliff Young. Cliff decided to run an 875- Kilometer endurance race from Sydney to Melbourne at the ripe old age of 56. For those of you who are wondering how many kilometers that is, it's about 540 miles. When Cliff showed up to the race, not only was he decades older than many of the contestants, but he was dressed in overalls and work boots. Reporters and other athletes mocked him and asked him if he thought he could do this race. When asked if he would finish, he replied, "I think I can do it. I am sure I can do it. Only death will stop me. If I get run over by a semi-trailer, that is the only thing that will stop me. Of course, I hope I don't because I have a lot of living to do after this." Isn't that a great answer? Not only to Cliff finish the race, but he took first place and set a new course record. You see, Cliff grew up on a farm, and they didn't have money for horses or tractors, so he would have to run to gather the animals. Maybe Cliff didn't come to the race dressed as a stereotypical runner, but he proved that you don't have to have the right gear to run. Cliff knew he could run, and even when those around him doubted his ability, he continued forward, and he also shared, "no matter what you do, you have to keep moving. If you don't wear out, you rust out, and you rust out quicker than you wear out." So let us don't rust out this week. Get out there and move your body. You are capable of more than you know.
