Some friends I had in high school did this incredibly dangerous thing that they called "bogging" where they went out at night and got lost in the city sewers. Allegedly this one time they didn't make it out until sunrise and felt glad just to be alive. DO NOT DO THIS. Sewer lines can flood with water and/or noxious gas and kill you. I was reminded of this (and a bit terrified) while playing through Alan Wake 2.
For this week's jam I went looking through old files to see if I could scare up some original samples and I found parts that I'd recorded a little over a year ago for a track that I never got around to arranging or mixing. It felt like it was worth salvaging, so I put some work into it. It feels "underworldly" to me, and it's made out of leftover parts, so I named it Bogging.
It's easy to tell that most of it are the sounds of the Erica Synths HD-01 Perkons. I'm not sure what the vowely bassline is but probably an Access Virus preset. Things get a little out of sync at parts (hence the "wonky" tag) and there's some intentional crackling texture stuff in there that gets utterly drown out in the mix. The awesome delay jam howl uses Arturia Tape-201.
