Oddly, Sherrill's purse contained a significant sum of money, and her cigarettes were left behind, despite being a heavy smoker. The house received lewd phone calls, possibly a prank. Robert Craig Cox, a suspect with a criminal history and connections to the area, claimed knowledge of their fate but was never convicted. Speculation and bizarre theories persist, including a controversial tip suggesting the women may be buried beneath a hospital parking garage.
