When we hear the word "apocalypse," our mind floats to the question, "When?"

But the word apocalypse?

In Greek, it actually means to "uncover" or "reveal." So, instead of asking "when" — what if we shifted our question to ask "what"?

➡️ What is God trying to reveal to us when the world around us (or our "worlds") starts to crumble?

This week we're digging into the archives and bringing back a conversation from a few years ago. Perhaps now more than ever, we are desperate for God to work in our hearts.

We hope this conversation equips you to have the necessary hard conversations about racism, bias and divides in order to do the good work of bridge building.

We can’t love God until we recognize how much He loves us first.

We can’t love others until we recognize how much He loves us.

As Jesus followers, we are called to love our neighbors. God calls us to love people who look different than us and longs for us cultivate Kingdom diversity. Together we can choose to give power to things that matter by loving and listening to those whose experiences and histories are different than our own.

Has a barrier kept you from connecting with God? A barrier that tells you that you are not good enough for the church or fit into the church enough?

This is NOT what Jesus is about. His kingdom is for every person and every nation.

You can start today, as a follower of Christ recognizing the external barriers tat keep others from connecting to God and His community and build a bridge to people to live a full dynamic life in Him.

What is keeping you from experiencing the full, abundant, and dynamic life in Christ?

Is it unmet expectations?

Is it missed opportunity?

Is it unrealized dreams?

Is it unanswered prayers?

Sure. We want God's Kingdom. The full range of benefits and goodnesses. But, we want His way... PLUS our own. It's a "Jesus plus" theology that often keeps us from walking into the dynamic life Jesus has to offer.

This weekend, Pastor Jason Smith teaches from Mark 9 & 10 and reminds us if we are to be great, we must choose to go last. It’s not about how high you start, but it’s how low you go.

This week Stacey Martin invites our Care & Counseling department to hear what it looks like to acknowledge our feelings during this time of COVID-19 and how isolation and boundaries with technology can help us do that. Hear from licensed counselors about how to use this disruption to grow emotionally and spiritually instead of numbing out.

Jesus can fix the problems we experience and He longs for us to ask Him for help. When we say, "I need YOUR help, God. I need YOU, because I can't do it... YOU can," we are living out the recipe of faith: humility and boldness.

On Mother's Day, Pastor Jason Smith teaches from Mark 7 and invites his mother, Marcia, to share her experiences desperately pleading with God from a mother's perspective. Marcia reminds us that sometimes the story turns out different than we expect and that even God's no's are merciful.

Stacey Martin invites Rebecca Woodman and Maria Brady, both part of our Care & Counseling team, to discuss with us what parenting looks like in this new reality and how to re-shape our brains into what parenting looks like right now. We also dig into co-parenting, whether you’re married, single or divorced, working together on how to best balance all things up in the air!
