The story of the good Samaritan is often read as a sentimental story about helping people in need. But it is a story that is designed to challenge our deepest beliefs about who we are called to love. Who have we made the "Other" in our life?

In Luke the call to discipleship is a high bar. It is a call to a life of following Jesus. In this message we will ask people to consider how serious they are about being a disciple of Jesus.

The hope of the Gospel is like a seed that is freely scattered and available to everyone, but that powerful seed of hope needs the right soil to grow. Are we cultivating a life that allows this seed to take root? Can the people around us see evidence of a life transformed by Jesus? He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

In this passage we will see the heart of Jesus as he begins his ethical teaching and as he applies it in the way he lives and how he interacts with people. It is a challenge for us to consider the condition of our inner life and if Jesus' teachings are the foundation in which we are building our lives.

Jesus came out of the water of Baptism into a season of temptation, rejection and spiritual opposition. In this message we look at the specific nature of the temptations of Jesus and see how these are actually core to the human condition. Overcoming these temptations are central to well being and can only be accomplished through deep introspection and honesty, through the inner life with Christ.
