Penny in Windsor, Ontario listens on AM800 CKLW and asked: "About charging my Android phone battery. At the moment, I plug it in when I'm not using it and it's just sitting around, because it seems to lose a lot of power. I'm wondering, should I be doing that? If I'm playing a game, or actively on it, when I know it's taking up juice, should I keep it plugged in while I'm doing it, or should I wait until the battery is depleted before starting to charge it? I really would like to know the answer to that one."

Penny, modern batteries don’t have the “memory” problem old Nickel batteries used to have.

If you want to keep the phone plugged in when you’re not using it, that’s largely fine. It will know to cut off power when the battery is full and keep a trickle coming in to keep the battery topped up.

Modern phone are pretty good at managing batteries and modern batteries have a lifespan based on estimated charge cycles, one charge cycle is the equivalent of letting the battery drain completely and charge completely.

Keeping it plugged in won’t fool it into thinking it can hold less of a charge than it can, it may run hotter for a little longer, which is not great for batteries, but generally speaking, it won’t make much of a difference one way or another. Just use it however you prefer, your battery’s overall lifespan won’t be greatly affected.

Roger in Longview, Texas listens on 97.5 KTBB left us his comments on burrito delivery via drone

Mr. Dave,

You are wrong about having drones delivering tacos. I enjoy eating tacos but only eating them at the fast food place or restaurant. Twice I brought tacos home and had to eat soggy tacos, I did not learn the first time. The only place to eat tacos or any food in general is where it is prepared.

I'll never bring tacos home again,

Roger
