Jennifer Ernst, CEO and Co-founder of Tivic Health

Steve in Lake Villa, Illinois listens to the Podcasts and is calling via the Updated App and asked: "I'm moving into an apartment in a month or so and I'm curious, what kind of security system do you recommend? I have an EZVIZ camera that you guys sent me as a prize and its awesome and works great, but I think I need some security there, too. Remember, it's temporary, it's an apartment, not a house."

Steve, since this is a temporary move, you probably want something that can be installed without drilling any holes or running any wires, and that doesnt cost a lot.

That rules out traditional alarm systems for the most part but it leaves you with some options in the segment of newer, IoT type of alarms.

You can look at Cove. You may be able to add motion sensors, door sensors and window sensors, plus a table top panel for as little as $150.

Installing the devices is very simple, it just requires peeling back an adhesive strip and hanging the device on the wall. The rest is done through the touch screen.

You can also look at the Ring Security System. The least expensive package will cost you $200 and will come with a physical keypad rather than a touch screen, and several sensors.

Ring markets it to condos up to 1000 square feet, so it may be just what you need. The Ring Security System works with Ring cameras and doorbells as you would expect, so that price tag can climb significantly if you continue to add accessories, and realistically you will probably need to add a few extra window sensors at $20 each, but you can get started for $200.

You can also look at Simplisafe, their Essentials package retails for $260, but you can buy it for under $200 if youre willing to sign up for their monthly monitoring service, and it comes with several door and window sensors, a motion sensor, and a keypad, as well as their hub.

As with the rest, the price tag can climb quickly if you add extra accessories, but that should give you a basic starting point.
