Tony in Glasgow, Kentucky listens on 107.3 WBRP and asked: "Since they've done away with Windows Movie Maker, what is another good program to make and edit movies on, for Windows PC?"

Tony, depending on your needs, Microsoft’s Photos may actually work for you.

Photos is free but it will only allow you to work on a single track, which may hinder your creativity if you’re used to multitrack editing.

Shotcut is far more advanced, it’s also free, but it includes filters and settings for more advanced users, for example, they have greenscreen specific settings.

A good reason to check out Shotcut is that it has a similar UI to Movie Maker’s, which might make for a relatively painless transition.

That is also true of Videopad, it’s not anything close to a carbon copy, but it should be easy enough to understand for an old Windows Movie Maker user. Videopad will try to upsell you to a paid version if you want more powerful features, but whether you need them or not depends on your use.

There are far more capable video editing programs out there, but those are typically aimed at professionals and advanced users. We could go into those since they’re the kind we use at our studios, but if you’re looking to replace Movie Maker those would probably be very expensive overkill.

Virginia asked: "A couple weeks ago all of the posts from groups i am in stopped showing up in my feed. They are still in my notifications. I have not unfollowed them nor been blocked by the groups. They all stopped at the same time. I have tried getting help from fb but they haven’t responded. Do you know what happened and how to fix it? Thank you!"

Virginia, have you installed an ad-blocker by any chance?

Facebook is basically a media company and they make money off of advertising, so they’ve taken some action to block ad-blockers. Part of that action has been to confuse ad-blocker software into blocking not just ads but content in an effort to get people to either turn off the ad-blockers, or at least whitelist them.

Given that you’re suddenly missing all posts, and that it happened all at once while letting your notifications still work, it sounds like that’s the issue you may have run into.

If it is, there’s not much you can do short of turning off your ad-blocker, whitelisting Facebook, or trying another one to see if they can get around Facebook’s blocks.

This also seems like a fantastic opportunity to leave Facebook and never look back, by the way. The best outcome here may be to take this as a sign and walk away.
