Dave and the team are traveling to CES 2020. Stay tuned for the latest from Las Vegas next week!

Louann in Windsor Ontario Canada listens on AM800 CKLW – “The Information Station” asked: “I have an older iPad that I’m either gonna smash one of these days out of frustration. I got a questionnaire for a new job and I couldn’t fill it out. It wasn’t strong enough to let me do it. So I lost out on the job. Is it too old? Is there any way I can give it a little more capacity? And I want to change my credit card number on the iTunes Store, where I enter my Apple ID, but then I don’t know where to go to change my credit card information.”

Louann, there’s not much you can do to speed up an aging iPad, or an aging anything for that matter. Sooner or later, electronics get left behind.

You can look into a replacement, but we should mention something else first: public libraries typically have computers you can use, even if you don’t have a friend willing to let you borrow their device, you can use a library computer for free next time a job is on the line.

If you’re looking for a competent replacement for your iPad without breaking the bank, you can have a look at Apple’s latest 9.7” model. At $329, it’s the most affordable they’ve released so far. There’s an almost endless number of Android tablets many of them at or below the price of iPads, and Amazon sells very inexpensive Fire tablets. If all you do is online, a Chromebook may serve you well too, and you can find very inexpensive ones.

But since you mention iTunes, we’re guessing sticking with an Apple tablet is your best best, since keeping it “in the family” is best when you’re in the Apple ecosystem.

As for changing your iTunes payment information, open the iTunes app, scroll all the way down and tap on your Apple ID, then tap on “payment information” and enter your new credit card information.

That’s it, you should be good to go after that.
