Dave and the team discuss an Italian law requiring alerts if a child is left behind in a car, Comcast and their Peacock streaming service, YouTube’s terms of service, Amazon holiday deliveries, and more.

Mike in Houston, Mississippi listens on SuperTalk Mississippi and asked: “How many times have you parked your car in the parking lot of the shopping center and you can’t find your car? I would love to have an app that says where you car is. When you get out of your car you can push a button, then go do your shopping. Then when you come out, it’ll point yo to your car. Is there such an app?”

Mike, both Google Maps and Apple Maps do that out of the box, in fact, they’ll usually record your location as soon as you get out of your car if you have the phone connected to the car via WiFi.

Popular socially-powered, navigation app Waze does the same thing as well, and there are shortcut apps for both iOS and Android that will let you tap a button when you park and have it remember your location.

If you’d prefer to have a dedicated app just for that there are lots of them like Parking Pin, Find My Car, there are even AR options if you locate your car using your camera.

This was one of the first organic uses for the dropped pin functionality that came with the original Google Maps app. People do want that reminder of where they parked and this provided an easy way to do it.

The trick then was that they had to remember to do it, and if they’re the kind of people who forget where they parked, they’re probably the kind of people who would forget to drop the pin. That’s where the automated functionality that modern GPS apps have came in.

If you can connect your phone to your car via bluetooth, you can just turn on your navigation app and enjoy the easy parking reminder.
