Harry in Port Huron, Michigan listens on AM800 CKLW and asked: "Is there a computer available that will boot up in three seconds or less. I know you can do it from sleep mode, but I need a computer that you can turn on and it'll boot up in three seconds or less. Is there a computer that does that in the Windows operating system?"

Nope.

There are plenty that will boot up in under 5 or 6 seconds though, and for the most part if you need something to come on instantly you always have the option of just putting it to sleep.

3 seconds isnt a very long time for a device as complex as a computer to load something as large as an operating system, and short of custom built systems theres really not that much need for that.

You may also want to think about how long it will take you to type in a password or otherwise log in after booting up because if you need something to be available within 3 seconds thats going to be a big bottleneck for you.

Mabsie in Windsor, Ontario listens on AM800 CKLW and asked: "I just bought a new HP laptop. I can't seem to print from it on the Bell network we just had hooked up. We used to have Cogeco. For some reason, it won't go through to my wireless printer and I'm not understanding why. Is my printer too old maybe?"

Mabsie, were you given new network equipment when you switched providers?

If you were given a new router, or maybe a modem with a router built in, thats probably the cause.

The new device could be blocking ports the printer needs. You dont mention whether this was a printer that connected to the internet or just your home network, but if its home network only, then its most likely just a setting that you need to configure in your new equipment.

If the name of your Wi-Fi network changed with your recent provider change, it could just be as simple as updating the wi-fi settings on your printer.

If youre still using your old equipment then this is likely a printer that connects to the internet, if thats the case your new ISP could be blocking ports on their end. If they are, theres not much you can do, but thats not very likely to be the case these days given how many smart home devices rely on being able to talk to the internet.
