We spend most of this week talking about some BS headlines, the new Speaker of the House, and some more energy drink reviews (feat. Green Dragon and Meltdown). This was a pretty long show so a good amount had to get cut. There are a couple of sekrit bonus reviews at the end. If you're interested in hearing those, email [email protected] and we'll hook you up.

[9/29/23].A day late again but I was lazy yesterday. We're talking about some of the existential questions we all face today - "pizza, or burrito?", "dove, or pigeon?" - reviewing some more energy drinks (feat. Ghost, G-Fuel, and Mountain Dew), and giving some thoughts on Deadwood and John Adams.

  • WDB 53) The Amish Are Missing Out On Some Dope Ass Concerts
This week's albums: Armand Hammer - We Buy Diabetic Test Strips [9/29/23], Neupink - This Town Is Death [1/13/23], The Turin Horse - Unsavory Impurities [3/24/23], Slauson Malone 1 - EXCELSIOR [10/6/23], and BrokenTeeth - 추락은 천천히 (How to Sink Slowly) [2/23/23].We start off the show making everyone mad, then jump years late into the chicken sandwich debate. Then after some more sip reviews (feat. Bucked Up, ASHOC, Alani Nu, and Rockstar), we offer some sympathies to the Amish, revisit a certain Drive-By Alumni facing some fresh federal charges, and review friends of the show The Chats' recent headlining show in Salt Lake City.

  • WDB 52) Kevin McCarthy Is a Political Martyr
This week's albums: Stegosauro - Stegosauro [3/31/23], Pejzaż - List I [9/28/23], Approaching Mountains - Ley [8/4/23].One of us was celebrating a career move a bit too much so this week's show is choppy at points, but we still find time to talk about the embarrassment of being Kevin McCarthy, give some volleyball updates, and review a G-Fuel energy drink, HBO's new documentary The Ringleader, and some dinosaurs. Podcast responsibly, friends.

  • WDB 51) The Lousy and Sylvia Swayne Will Solve America's Problems
This week's albums: Zach Bryan - Boys of Faith [9/22/23], The Lousy - Another Lousy Tape [4/20/23], amaii - In the Eleventh Hour [6/22/23], what is your name? - My Name Is... We spend more time talking about the Alabama House District 55 special election primary, some good volleyball news, more Dollar Store Sip Reviews (feat. Rip It & Monster), thoughts on HBO's Six Feet Under & Hulu's The Bear, how we feel about the new voices in the Rick and Morty S7 trailer, and the end of the writer's strike.

  • WDB 50) Arrest Sprain In Front of Their Friends and Family
This week's albums: Jean Dawson as "Phoenix" - "XCAPE", PT. 1 [5/11/23], Jamie Branch - Fly or Die Fly or Die Fly or Die ((World War)) [8/25/23], and Sprain - The Lamb as Effigy [9/1/23].The first section is pretty much a whole show in itself this week. Over the course of about an hour and forty minutes we cover a lot of ground, but the main topics are why Alabama's in the news again, more energy drink reviews (feat. Bang and Rockstar), doing our duty as Americans in giving barely informed opinions on foreign countries (Canada and India), reviews of the pilots of four TV shows (Gangs of London, Dark Winds, True Detective, and The Outsider), and a rant about an issue affecting the common man: absurd toilet paper roll sizes.

Then after the new music reviews, we drop some addendums on last week's Slowdive episode in the "essential shoegaze" albums we hadn't heard, and Slowdive's under-listened EPs.

  • The Weekly Drive-By Shifts to 'Drive'!

This week, we're taking you back to a time before the gunshots.

Originally recorded on 11/28/21 and distributed only to a select network, this episode, the first official episode of The Weekly Drive-By, and a number of others were victims of an ill-fated hard drive and presumed lost for good. Only recently were these files recovered, thanks to a source who would prefer not to be named, through methods they would prefer not to have mentioned. We're still working on getting the rest of the backlog back, so make sure to keep an eye out for those.

We also get into quick thoughts on HBO's docuseries Q: Into the Storm and revisit Amazon's Jury Duty now that we've both seen it.

About Weekly Drive-By

From the publisher's feed

The Weekly Drive-By is a music review podcast hosted by two friends who've known each other for about a decade now. The first half of the show is usually free discussion with nothing out of bounds, and the second half is built around reviews of new(ish) LPs and EPs that are either trending in the online music community or unknown picks we'd like to let people know about. We don't take ourselves too seriously, and you probably shouldn't either.
