“Healing Through the Laying On of Hands”

Spiritual Healing is a reality that cannot be denied. So many people today, who at one point, were diagnosed as incurable by medical physicians, are healthy once again because of an involvement with the practices of spiritual healing. There are numerous ways to practice Spiritual Healing, yet down through history, the practice of the laying on of hands has possibly been used and applied the most frequently.

The reason for this is obvious when one considers that whenever a person has an ache or pain, it is almost an instinctive reaction to place one’s hands on the area of the body where the pain exists. Similarly, there is almost an instinctive reaction to place one’s hands on a part of a loved one’s body that is in pain or uncomfortable. And more than that, there seems to be some justification for this, as in most cases the pain and discomfort appear to ease up or even dissipate altogether. To some degree, the physical action of laying on of hands visibly supports the idea that a healing is in progress.

Interestingly, this level of healing could take place even with a person who has no interest whatsoever in Metaphysical or Spiritual Healing. Perhaps we should all remember that the hands (like all things in physical reality), although they appear solidly composed of bone and tissue, can be regarded as energy fields. In the same way, the entire human body can be regarded as an energy field. Thus, when the hands come into contact with a certain part of the body, the true reality of what is taking place is that the energy field of the hands is coming into contact with the energy field of that part of the body being healed.

Another way to look at this is that the God-energy field of the hands is affecting and healing the God-energy field of the body, whether one’s own or another’s. Of all Spiritual Healing practices, there has been ample healing from the laying on of hands to give validity to the preceding thought. It would therefore be time wasted to speculate as to its authenticity — time that would be far better spent on becoming acquainted with the process itself, for the purpose of helping oneself or others.

Thought is energy, and that energy stimulates energy factors in one’s hands. During the laying on of hands, the more concentrated one’s thoughts are on the Healing hands—as God’s Instruments of Healing—the more energy activity is stimulated in the hands and in the part of the body being touched by the hands. Primary concentration, therefore, should be focused on the Presence of God in one’s hands, for God’s Healing Light flows through one’s hands into the part of the body (and its energy field) being touched and needing healing. Further, the effect is not confined to the surface touch contact, since one is dealing with an energy level which can reach deep into the body. A great deal of justification for the reality of an energy flow from the hands has come, in recent years, from experiments with Kirlian photography.

The Presence of God is frequently thought of as Light because this is the way those who have experienced God’s Presence during meditation (or otherwise) describe it. Many people who have experienced the Light that is God within them have suggested that they experience that Light as located at the upper center of the body, near the physical heart. Still others experience it as completely filling the inner screen of the mind with Light. In Eastern teachings on such matters, the first may be thought of as the heart chakra, while the second experience is the Third-Eye chakra. In Western mysticism, the heart chakra may be presented as the Sacred Heart, as depicted in the many pictures of the Christ that is Jesus.

Healing or relief can be obtained in many instances with only the outer levels of the self-healer or professional practitioner’s mind at work. However, the impact or power of the healing energy from one’s hands on the body can be intensified if, in addition to visualizing God’s Light as flowing through one’s hands, one remain at all times as open as possible to receiving guidance from the Mind of God within.

Additionally, common sense would certainly suggest that if the practitioner were first in a higher state of inner spiritual consciousness, the intensified awareness of the Presence of God within would strengthen the flow of healing energy present during contact. If helpful for you, consider positive affirmations such as the following for healing: “From the heart of the Universe located in the spiritual heart of my body, the Healing Light that is the Presence of God flows through my arms into my hands, and through my hands to that part of the body that my hands touch. For any relief and healing now received, I thank the Healing Presence of God … And So It Is!” Ideally, the meditative consciousness achieved would continue during the healing practice itself—and be experienced by both the healer and the client.

Finally, and most importantly, the practice of the laying on of hands for spiritual healing is an act of Loving, by God to His/Her Creation and by the Love of God in the professional practitioner for a body containing God’s Presence that is in need.

“Improving Communication in Love”

There can never be enough information conveyed about communicating in love. When one asks the question, “How’s your love life?” it should be understood that one’s love life is based mostly on communication. However, in love, communication is not limited to a verbal exchange, but also to the physical, and most importantly, the spiritual levels.

A love relationship can be defined as marriage or a bond with a significant other. How well you are communicating on all levels defines how well your love relationship is going. Either type of love connection is dependent on the quality of all levels, if it is to be a positive experience for both people.

The key level in relationships is the spiritual. If there is a spiritual bond or connection between two people that is real, then their relationship is part of their soul’s purpose in this lifetime. In such a case, it is as if their relationship has received the blessing of God.

In some love relationships, two souls might have to struggle to communicate well with one another to make up for what they were unable to do in a previous lifetime. Even though this may be true, it does not mean that communication will always be positive and wonderful. In addition, it may end up that once again they do not master communicating with one another in this lifetime, necessitating another karmic showdown in a future life!

Whatever the behind-the-scenes spiritual reason for two souls coming together in a love relationship in this lifetime, one thing is certain, and that is, improving communications is a vital part of what they share with each other. In fact, one of the central points of improving communications in love is that of sharing.

When there is difficulty in communicating in love, it is because one or both partners are unable or unwilling to share themselves with the other person. Sharing is truly a spiritual act where one abandons the personal ego, with all its deceptions, so that there may be real communication between two people. It should also be pointed out that for a person who is truly spiritual, communications in love will always be possible.

There are some interactions where higher, more evolved souls enter into love relationships for the underlying purpose of giving a lesser aware soul exposure, or to add to their spiritual growth. If this is the case, there may be a great many difficulties in communicating because of the reluctance of the less aware soul. Such a relationship may be short-term. However, it may also be long-term if there is a lengthy list of karmic issues to be worked out between them. If it is long-term, this allows more time to improve communications, or conversely, additional time to be more miserable and to form yet additional negative karma, if communications are not improved.

The most important consideration is that we come together with another in a love relationship to better communicate or express love. Even in the very best of love relationships, there is still room for improving communications. Spiritually, everyone is ultimately perfect, but perfecting a love relationship is a matter of communicating the God Presence between two people.

God knows best what can be communicated between two people to improve their love relationship. Meditation opens the door of the conscious mind to receive intuitive insight on how to communicate more effectively. The intuitive insight is not confined to verbal exchange. It may also include an exchange of energies on a physical level when two people are close or touch physically, or an exchange of ideas between souls.

When a person communicates something of love that is wonderfully positive, as in what could be described as spontaneous or inspired, it is likely that this inner communication eruption comes from an exchange of spiritual love energy at the soul level. When both people are meditators, the likelihood of such exchange is far greater. Intuitive insight gained through meditation allows you to intuitively sense what is taking place in the mind and soul of the person you care for.

With such awareness, you are better able to communicate with them positively and lovingly. The very practice of meditation promotes an inner peace, the presence of which can enhance communications by physically maintaining peace and composure. Intuitive insight gained through meditation gives an understanding of another person that can go a long way in improving communications in love.

When you meditate, you open yourself to communication from God. Such communication brings you into contact with higher energy frequencies within your mind and throughout the energy field of your body. Whatever higher energies of God’s love, peace, understanding, and harmony you experience during meditation are communicated to the person you care for.

This can take place on a psychic telepathic level, and through an energy exchange between your energy field and theirs, together with an exchange of energies in the auras surrounding the body. These energies will affect body language, facial expressions, communication delivery and voice tone. All of these are key and vital factors in improving communications in love.

It is as if you are exchanging or sharing a portion of God’s love and harmony in your communications with each other. Meditating daily elevates your own consciousness, which in turn elevates the consciousness of the relationship.

“Higher Guidance—Or, How to Let God Fill in the Details”

So much of the stress that is experienced in modern-day society is as a direct result of not knowing what to do in one’s life at any given moment. In today’s rapidly changing world, more than ever people need to know what to do in their lives, and once they do know—how to manifest it.  Or, even if there is some knowledge of what should be done, there exists a void for most people as to how to do it.

Down through recorded history, the greatest guidance has come from inspired thought and thinking. First, an inspired thought, or the original idea, emerges from within oneself as to what to do in one’s life. This is followed by a series of ideas as to how to put the original idea into action and how to see it through to fruition.

Know that the Presence of Universal Mind, or God-Mind, is in you right this moment, as it has been all of your life and will continue to be for the remainder of your physical life and beyond it. Mystical research and wisdom through the ages have shown that both the original idea and the follow-through thinking in support of the idea  have come from the higher, deeper part of the human mind—that part of the mind that mystics have described as Universal Consciousness or Presence of God within the human mind.

Most people receive only occasional inspired thoughts in their lifetimes.  When this inspiration does occur, along with the follow-through, their lives are generally better as a result of it. However, in the majority of the time most people are not receiving any inspired ideas, and that explains why they do not live more fulfilled lives.

A person may, of course, experience many good things in life without any feeling that they are being Divinely Guided.  Even so, while there may be brief moments of exhilaration, such moments are, for the most part, short-lived because the foundation of the happiness or seeming fulfilment is built upon a temporary and/or material concept of human existence.  However, if the foundation of their lives is built upon the incomparable Eternal, as with a person who is being guided by Universal Will and Intelligence instead of personal will and intellect alone, one intuitively knows, senses, or feels, that one’s life is being guided by God.

True Guidance comes from knowing how to let your God-Mind get through to your conscious mind with the original idea and subsequent follow-up ideas. Metaphysically and mystically speaking, God is the Ultimate True Self of yourself, and therefore wants to guide and inspire you. God manifests through creation of human beings and all of existence, and thus wishes the manifestation to be the best it can be for you and others. For this reason, the innermost God-Part of your mind wants to be the guide for the more surface, ordinary, or functional part of your consciousness. Yet, for many, God’s messages are not heard or felt.

How, then, do you receive the original, inspired idea and how do you receive follow-up ideas or thinking to support the original idea? Know that the Presence of Universal Mind or God Mind is in you right this moment, as it has actually been all of your life. Know also that it will continue to be within you for the remainder of your physical life—and beyond it. Stay present and stay open so that God’s guidance can reach through to you.

If you, however, know that the God-mind wants to get through but you are not sure of hearing the guidance, you might find it useful to question whether you are in fact aware of any blockages in your energy field, any need for change, growth, new direction, or new purpose in your life. Sometimes such a block may be in actuality the message for needed change. The key may be to remain thankful and open to receiving from God, and remain patient that it is coming because it is there. Perhaps the seeming withholding of guidance is itself a kind of guidance! Patience must be learned and practiced while waiting for new God-direction in your life.

It should therefore be understood that Higher Guidance from God may not be evident at all times in one’s life. Ideally, though, if one is open to receive it, Higher Guidance is always present.  It may not be making its Presence known to the conscious, surface, obvious, or human part of the mind, for any one of numerous reasons that only the God-Mind itself knows.

Each day, take a few moments to engage in Affirmative Prayer for Higher Guidance, such as affirming that you are already receiving God’s Guidance, rather than asking for it at some future time. As the Christ that was in Jesus advised, “According to your faith, be it unto you” (Matthew 9:29). If your faith expresses that God’s Guidance is being received already, then be assured that your attitude in this respect is allowing it to take place.

Realize, also, that although you affirm in your prayer that you are already receiving God’s Guidance, you may not be given the conscious awareness of what that guidance may be until God feels that circumstances and conditions are such in your life that you can truly receive such guidance, that is, at a time when it would be most apt to benefit you. A person who has developed even the least idea of how important timing can be in life can then perhaps best appreciate that an All-Knowing God would be infinitely more aware of timing in regards to when original ideas and guidance are to be released to the conscious mind.

Just remember, that if one truly does what one can—through Spiritual Practices—then all further Guidance, or God Inspiration, will assuredly come to completion, again and again. The Spiritual Practices that caused the original idea to surface from the Mind of God will similarly cause follow-through ideas to flow into your conscious mind with the details of how to bring it about.

Always keep in awareness that Universal Presence is Eternally in Control for the Ultimate Good of every soul.  And so, what will be, will be—because it already is.

“Establishing New Patterns of Thought”

When a person begins to feel that life is a negative rut, then indeed there is a need for change. Change must come, or life evolves into endless days of inner turmoil, where one seems stuck in quicksand, spinning one’s mental and physical wheels. A person feels unable to move one’s life out of the quagmire in which one finds oneself. It is as if one’s life does not seem to be able to advance beyond a certain point and that point is far from what one needs or wants in order to feel that life is worth living.

In this state of mind, a person may find it difficult to know what to do, because it is one’s very state of mind that can be likened unto a jailer who has imprisoned his thinking into such a pattern, that he cannot comprehend the proverbial forest from the trees.

In this state of mind, individuals may feel almost helpless to help themselves, having tried patterns that already exist in their mind to change things, but failing through the use of those very thinking patterns. Nothing will ever change in people’s lives until they themselves make a change. The change must begin within themselves, and the change must begin in the way they think; to change from negative thought patterns that are producing nothing, to positive thought patterns capable of breaking the chains of mental slavery that prevent people’s lives from improving.

Negative: A person decides that anything goes, or that they will do anything necessary (even if unscrupulous or harmful to others) to get what they want. In effect, they will be giving their soul away for what they feel they can obtain, i.e., giving away the beauty of God’s Peace and Love, which is the most precious of life’s gifts.

Positive: A person decides to turn all frustrations over to God, really turn them over, not just pretend to do so, whether to oneself or to others, which is the case in most people who claim to turn over their lives to God. In so doing, a person realizes that the changes which must take place in the mental patterns of their mind are changes that are of the nature of God, i.e., being loving, understanding, compassionate, giving; motivated by wisdom or the Mind of God.

A person must stop clinging to what seems safe and secure in the existing patterns of their thinking. It must be seen that it has gained them nothing but frustration, so why cling to pain? It is clear that what a person clings to is not of God, or they would not feel so miserable. Misery is of human origin, and only God’s Presence within a human being can bring about improvement.

The mortal, or human part of the mind, is miserable because it lives illusions, not seeing, or refusing to see, the reality of what can be done to make a change. It clings to its own patterns of illusions, in which life seems like an endless negative maze of experiences from which there is no escape. The reality is that through GOD, one outgrows the maze in consciousness, and steps out of it into a new positive pattern of living conducive to productivity and fulfillment.

If a person turns their life over to the Presence of God, life then becomes a series of upward steps. A person ascends a stairway to the Presence of God, the Kingdom of Heaven, or Higher Self-Awareness of Universal Life and their place within it, as it relates to this present physical lifetime.

All of life’s outer experiences are outward displays of steps in the ascension of consciousness simultaneously taking place within an individual. All physical experiences are viewed as valuable, since all are part of learning and refining process for the mind and soul.

Although valuable, no one experience or series of experiences of human life must be allowed to create a permanent pattern of thinking and living. Instead, each valuable experience must be comprehended to be another upward step in the ascension; to be appreciated, but not to be clung to or to become a permanent goal of life.

God patterns life to be constantly moving to perfection, or the “word made flesh”, or God’s manifestation in human form. While this may be far from being perfected in one who is aspiring in this life, the goal still remains, as does the nobility of its purpose.

What is being shared here is identical to what Christ shared 2000 years ago when he said, “He who hath put his hand to the plow, let him not look back.”

Related to what is being stated, the parallel is one of having made a choice to travel God’s pathway. Do not look back or attempt to cling to old patterns of thought, but instead be committed to God and committed to allowing God to change your thinking, or, as stated Biblically, “Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Of course any change brought about by God will be for a person’s improvement and growth, but it must also be realized that it will not fit into the same pattern of thinking. Thus, the goals of one’s life that were in the old pattern may not be retained.

When a person chooses to follow God’s Path through this life, especially in using this power to break away from old patterns, there must be a willingness (love) to share one’s good fortune with others.

Only in this way is the mystical truth of Universal Oneness, or God’s Love, demonstrated. When good brought about by God is shared, then God continues to provide because the mystical contact between God’s Love or Presence and the human part of the mind continue, and in this way God can persist in intuitively guiding a person to still further good.

“The Power of Commitment to God”

Your life can be better if you have a commitment to God. Those who have truly worked their way up to a more fulfilling and satisfactory life have had a commitment of some sort, whether to oneself or to another. Commitment helps to keep one focused until one has achieved the desired goal.

When people are committed to something, they maximize their effort of time and energy. Maximizing one’s effort increases the likelihood that results will be achieved. Many individuals who have been committed to achieving goals have done so without a conscious thought about God. Yet, unconsciously, through commitment, they have drawn upon God’s Presence and Resources to achieve what they have desired.

One might question, then, why one should even bother to consciously bring God into the premise of the power of commitment. The reasons are many. The primary factor is that what a person may be committed to may not be what is in their best interest, although it may appear to be on the surface.

Ultimately, at the center of the life of the body, mind, and soul of every individual, God’s Presence exists as our Real Life. God created us and lives within us to provide us with physical life and consciousness. Our soul is on an eternal path or voyage.

Every life has its purpose for being—a reason for each individual to live it. The life you are living right now is a gift from God. The outer you (ego) had absolutely nothing to do with your being here. It is the Innermost You or God’s Presence that has given you this life to live. God is the Ultimate, Real Life of your body, mind, and soul. God has a plan—a Divine Plan—for you in this lifetime. Grow close to God within you and you grow closer to the Plan.

If you make a commitment to God, then you bring forth more of God’s Divine Attributes of Wisdom, Creativity, Love, Healing, and Will to give you greater power to achieve your goals. Best of all, the goals that you will be achieving are God’s goals for your life, which means that real progress is being made by your soul.

Real progress is the fulfilling of your soul, where your soul feels and is in a state of fulfillment. Only when this is present is there any real happiness. For this reason, many people who were committed to achieving goals discovered that, upon fruition of those goals, there was no lasting happiness.

This is why there are so many outwardly successful individuals who, in spite of their external triumphs, turn to drugs, alcohol, and other escapisms. They try to mask or cover the emptiness that they still feel, even with their outer accomplishments.

It might be said, therefore, that without God, all victories in life are shallow achievements, greatly dulled by the heartache that the soul feels for its lack of fulfillment. For this reason, commitment should first be made to God in your life. There are appropriate words from the Bible that illustrate the above: “For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

Being committed to God is ultimately being committed to the Real Life of your body, mind, and soul, with which, in Reality, you are always One. You find that you lose illusions and gain perspective. You are fortified and nourished by God’s Spirit and Mind within you.

Your body is a vehicle through which your mind and soul seek to fulfill themselves. Your body could be thought of as a Divinely Ordained instrument through which God’s Will for your soul can be accomplished on this physical plane of existence.

Therefore, the body can be considered a physical manifestation of Spirit. The Bible affirms this in the words, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of the living God?” The body houses the Spirit, and if the mind and soul are committed to the Spirit, the body seeks to do the Will of the Spirit in this lifetime. Committing your body to God is committing your body to be used in the service of God for the Will of God.

This does not mean that you have to enter a monastery. The body can still express in earthly ways, such as in sports, lovemaking, and the like. It is simply that the ultimate use of the body and its energy is to be used to fulfill God’s Will for your life in terms of accomplishment—whether in commerce, the creative arts, sports, entertainment, healing, manual labor, or spirituality.

Everybody is given a certain allocation of energy at birth. How this allocation of energy is spent during one’s lifetime is what is important. If it is spent in commitment to God, the body’s energy will be well spent, for it will have fed one’s soul.

Committing the energy of your body to the Will of God harnesses the Power of God to maintain, restore, and regenerate your body throughout your life.

“Soul Mates”

There is a master plan to the Universe and all that transpires therein. That plan is as vast as the physical universe, and even far beyond, into other dimensions of existence. In fact, what takes place in the physical dimension is just the outer tip of the iceberg when compared to the vast complexity of creating and maintaining a universal order to all things.

Thus, there are innumerable mysteries involving existence, not the least of which is one’s spiritual relationship or connection to another human being. When we pursue this thought in regard to personal love relationships, we come to the often mysterious and intriguing subject of soul mates.

The very term “soul mate” implies a spiritual connection between two souls. The implication carried to its spiritual conclusion would also imply that these are two persons that God meant to be together. Taking this one step further, it could be considered that God created the two out of one.

In a mystical sense, there is but One Life in the Universe. In God’s creation of a soul, we can say that there is but One Universal Soul, whose body is Light, or God’s first begotten.

The Bible states that all things came forth from Light. This would mean that individual souls came forth from the Light in a higher spiritual realm before manifesting in physical form. To manifest and procreate on a physical dimension, each soul was divided into both male and female energy. Though separated, the energies still hold to common energy attraction, having originally come from being one, as one soul and one manifestation in an original higher realm of creation in the Universal Mind or Consciousness of God. Thus, if understood spiritually, the eternal quest to find one’s soul mate—consciously or even unconsciously—becomes the driving force behind love.

In the sense of shared values, lifestyle, and even physical appearance, the similarities in the natures of soul mates can be overwhelming. Their spiritual sense will be very much in tune, and on the lighter side, their laughter will closely resemble one another’s. All of this—appearance, laughter, similarity of spiritual understanding—is because they are originally from the same soul. The urge to love one another is the urge to literally reunite with one’s other half on physical, mental, and spiritual levels.

Once soul mates find each other, does this mean that they will stay together through eternity? The answer is that they must first be aware that they are soul mates, and that this is the most precious love—not only in this physical life, but throughout eternity. Acknowledging this, they must be willing to work together to triumph over any pressures and problems they encounter in physical life, realizing that they possess life’s most valuable gift.

If both of them do not experience this willingness, they could become so entangled in issues and stresses that they go their own way, thus losing the very essence of themselves. Some will realize the mistake that they have made and attempt to rectify it by encouraging reuniting. Others—either consciously or unconsciously—will get involved in different experiences or another relationship as an escape from the spiritual pain they feel inside.

This process of coming together, only to lose contact once again, could happen over many lifetimes, until both halves of the whole decide that they must stay together in this life and beyond, regardless of anything that may come their way!

As for finding your soul mate, meditation is the key—as it is with everything in life. By meditating daily on the Presence of God, you enter into that higher energy of Oneness and Light, which is God. As a result, you radiate Oneness. Oneness then becomes the primary vibratory energy in your thought waves on a psychic level, which attracts your soul mate to you.

In the case of soul mates, attraction is much deeper than any physical or mental attraction. It is something sensed on a spiritual level. The two people sense that they are already connected in some very deep spiritual way, for indeed they are. If indeed, the two souls are truly soul mates, it is not unusual for them to sense this, even on a first meeting.

Meditation also reveals that human beings are multi-dimensional; that is, you can simultaneously exist in several different dimensions. That means that if you have not already found your soul mate in this lifetime, there is a dimension where the two of you eternally exist. This continues when you are together on the physical plane, even if for some reason you become separated in the physical world.

If you feel you are currently separated from your soul mate, turn to God to find and retain your soul mate in this physical life and in the life hereafter. Only God, or one who is extremely aware and spiritually sensitive, can know the empty feeling of being separated from one’s true soul mate.

“Karma”

Karma has been linked in people’s minds to a common explanation for the good or the bad experienced in human life. The word karma itself simply means action. That action can be positive or negative. The acts of today create the fortune or misfortune of the future. The Bible’s words, “As you sow, so shall you reap,” could be the Biblical equivalent of karma.

It has been commonplace in society to say that if a person’s life is going well, it is because of good karma, and if their life is going badly, that person has bad karma. In understanding karma, you should be aware that you are the one who is in charge of creating either good or bad karma in your life. The exception to this is when you align yourself with God, in which case God will begin to remove or neutralize some of the bad karma you are carrying with you, as well as strengthen and/or give more power to the positive karma you have accumulated.

Karma can also be thought of as the law of cause and effect set into motion. The action you take on anything today will set into motion a series of events as a cause, which will bear good or bad tidings as the effect in the future.

The key is to get together with God in your own mind and consciousness to establish positive causes that will produce positive effects or good karma in your future life experience.

Karma is not limited to physical action. Karma may be the act of thought or an act of feeling. Christ once implied that a person does not have to perform a physical act, but the very thought of it is as good as having done the act. Thus, karma can often be created by thought and feeling actions, which, while not physical in and of themselves, can produce such psychic energy as to stimulate and produce physical effects. Never think that anyone can avoid the effects of their karma.

Sometimes in life, you may see a person who seems to be getting away with something. This was once pointed out to Christ, and he answered, “I say unto you that they already have their reward.” In other words, they have not escaped ill if they have been acting badly, for in the mind of God, they are already being placed in a position where at some time in the future, they will experience the consequences of their actions.

Often karma does not have to be experienced at some distant time in the future, but could even be on the same day. Most karma, for that matter, whether good or bad, is experienced in this present lifetime you are leading, rather than having you come back in another lifetime to experience either rewards or consequences.

Generally, the higher the soul, the more quickly the karmic effect is experienced, as higher souls have a greater inner sensitivity, which means they can register the effect of karmic action far more quickly than less evolved souls. Also, because there is more creative energy active in higher souls, the effect tends to be more quickly created and experienced.

The very best way to create good karma for yourself is to be as close to God as possible—to meditatively and prayerfully tune into God’s Presence. Tuning into God’s Presence causes you to experience the energies of higher consciousness within you that are part of the manifestation of God’s Goodness, Truth, and Rightness.

Having good karma diminishes the number of times you have to physically reincarnate. Eventually what is called the wheel of birth and rebirth is broken, where you have no physically binding karma to the physical plane that causes you to have to incarnate. Incarnation among karma-free souls is a matter of choice and is generally motivated by the desire to be of service to humanity.

It should be noted here that even if a soul is a higher soul and karma-free, the decision to incarnate—even by choice—could make them subject to karmic action once again. The most widely known case of this was Jesus’ incarnation by choice. Even though pure of karma, once he incarnated, as a result of this action, he had to endure the sufferings that he did. He freed himself of karma, when on the cross he said, “Forgive them Father; they know not what they do.”

As you conduct your daily activities, maintain an awareness of trying to think, feel, and act in a positive manner. Be aware that you are constantly creating the causes for good or bad karmic effects. Be aware that the good or bad karmic effects may be almost immediate, or may be years from now, or even in another lifetime. Remind yourself that what is going on within you, and what you are doing outwardly, are creating immediate or future karma. Whenever you feel tempted to do something wrong, call upon the Presence of God to strengthen you so that you will do what is right.

And remember, too, that a daily practice of meditation invokes the healing energies of God to neutralize, sublimate, and heal negative karmic energies within you, freeing you and your life from such karmic influence.

“Living Life from Within”

When life is lived from within, there is so much more to see and be aware of in the world that physically surrounds you. Most people, however, live life from without. That is, they live life based only on input from their outer five senses.

Throughout the ages, individuals possessing inner wisdom discovered the betterment of living life from within themselves. Living life from within yourself means turning inward to an innate inner—or higher—consciousness. Christ referred to this higher consciousness as “The Kingdom of Heaven within.” He admonished people to “Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven, and all things will be added unto you.”

What Christ was attempting to do was to enlighten people about their own inborn divinity. Once a relationship to one’s own divinity is established, an individual may then access the higher consciousness within. Accessing your own inner, higher, spiritual consciousness opens your conscious mind to greater awareness, intuitive spiritual guidance, creativity, and wisdom.

Over time, it becomes very apparent how valuable it is to live life from within, under the influence of a consciousness containing far more wisdom and awareness than your intellect, logic, or reasoning process.

Meditation literally opens the mental doorway of the mind to an infinite variety of higher consciousness experiences and energies. When you meditate, you go within and contact what is within you. These experiences and the energies associated with them can have a profound effect on the conscious physical life of an individual.

In reality, you are contacting the greater part of yourself—a reality that contains an enormous consciousness that is at your disposal, or, more aptly, you are at its disposal! The Biblical words, “Not my will, but Yours be done,” come to mind, for you are turning away from the personal ego-centered consciousness at the surface level of your mind, and letting your outer mind be under the direct influence of the higher consciousness within you. And what is that higher consciousness? It is varying manifestations of Universal Mind or God. Thus, it can be stated that living life from within is opening to and allowing Universal Mind or God to direct your life from within.

Meditation opens your inner senses to receive and be aware of inner sense impressions coming from Universal Mind or God. Through the practice of meditation, you become acutely attuned and sensitive to inner sense impressions influencing your outer human thought process. You definitely sense that you are under the influence of a higher consciousness from within yourself.

Through higher consciousness, the surface level of your mind is constantly open to receiving intuitive thought direction and success-producing creative ideas from God within yourself. When you are constantly receiving intuitive thought direction, you are indeed living from within.

You should try to self-program your mind to be constantly open to intuitive thought direction from within. How much more confident and positive people can be once they have correctly and unequivocally determined that they are indeed being divinely directed in life by the Presence of God within themselves.

Thoughts suddenly come into your mind without a logical buildup. Many of these thoughts will seem like inspirations—which they are. Living from within is acting upon those inspirations, knowing that they are inspired by God.

Along with responding to thoughts emerging from within yourself, you should also be sensitive to feelings arising from within. The feelings referred to here are not emotional feelings. Rather, they are feelings that seem to arise from deeper within yourself, as if coming from your very soul. They are subtle and tend to be directive. And—as with intuitive thought—directive feelings should be acted upon, as it is God that is trying to communicate with you from within yourself.

Living life from within gives you an intuitive, spiritual, sixth sense to be able to see through the veneer that veils the truth. It lets you see both the short-term and long-range effect of what is occurring in your life. And it provides you with a better perspective as to what decisions you should be making.

If you wish to live life as positively as possible, live it from within!

“Declaring Your Own Independence”

How very precious is the freedom of independence from relying on anything outside of oneself!   Without such freedom, people often feel that their soul is being suffocated. This is due to the lack of breathing room to move, think, and feel life with the sense of liberty that comes from not being dependent on anything or anyone outside of oneself.

How many people today live lives of quiet, or at times, not so quiet desperation? How many people feel trapped by other people, or by conditions in their lives? How many feel this way, believing, for example, that they have no choice but to remain in some form of employment with which they feel very uncomfortable? How many feel that they are in a relationship with a spouse or significant other that they cannot abandon, even though they wish to, for fear of losing financial, emotional, or sexual support?

Whether it regards employment, income, or personal life issues, having to live without a feeling of independence is pure misery for many. The truth, however, is that people do tend to become dependent upon employers, significant others, spouses, family members, and friends.

It is far easier for most people to accept and live a life of dependency on others than upon what they are within themselves. However, when they do this, they are sacrificing their freedom of independence.

Many people today, who are discontented with their lack of freedom and independence, turn to all sorts of abuses in their lives, such as gambling, sexual extremes, and so on. Such behavior represents an attempt to dull the psychic pain they have from feeling as if they are prisoners of their dependency on people and conditions outside of themselves.

When people feel this way, they are seeing life through the eyes of their personal ego mind, which is the source of their insecurities. This uncertainty of their personal ego can be the cause behind allowing themselves to become dependent on other people and circumstances outside of themselves.

To the spiritually wise, the personal ego is a false illusionary identity that conjures up insecurities because it feels limited. People who know they are unlimited will not have insecurities that lead to outer dependency.

A true spiritually-awakened mind knows that a portion of their mind is universal mind, or God, whose presence is unlimited. By identifying with the universal mind and forming an inner relationship with it during meditation, a person no longer feels identified with the limited personal ego insecurities that give rise to outer dependency.

Such universal-mind God-identification creates a state of consciousness that knows, through God, that it is unlimited in the scope of what can be accomplished without outside dependency. So if you are not doing so already, seek God’s universal mind presence within yourself, that you may be free of dependency on others, and declare your own independence.

Some may say that because of age or ill health, they have no choice but to be dependent on others. You must not be one of them! Realize that if you have a state of consciousness that declares its independence, based on God’s presence, your physical body will feel better and healthier as a result. Feeling a sense of independence, spiritually and psychologically, greatly influences the chemistry of your body, to enhance youthfulness and improve well-being. This, in turn, will make you less dependent on others.

For a person along in years, or suffering from ill health, feeling more independent can have enormous health and healing benefits. Most people are far happier being independent than dependent, even in older age and ill health.

I encourage you to look within to God, both in yourself and others, that through such an attitude and consciousness, you may invoke the unlimited potential of the divine within you, so that you may have the freedom to declare your own independence.

“Spiritually Reducing Stress”

Perhaps the greatest contributor to ill health in society today is stress. Psychosomatic medicine estimates that 70% to 90% of all illnesses are functional, dependent upon one’s state of mind and emotions, rather than organic, based on a virus of some kind.

The tension and anxiety connected with daily life in a modern city can be enormous. How you handle such stress can make the difference between your being a healthy person, or not. Over a prolonged period of time, stress can lead to chronic disorders or affect the immune system’s ability to fight off disease.

Of course, the medical field is what most people turn to for help in dealing with stress. And the average response from the medical practitioner is to prescribe stress-reducing drugs. Unfortunately, drugs may have adverse side effects, which over a period of time can lead to other physical maladies.

Spiritually reducing stress is approached by bringing Spirit—or the Universal Self or the God portion of your psyche—into greater activity, to take command of what is taking place in the body, mind, and emotions as a result of outer environmental factors. Spirit, Universal Mind, God, nature’s healing intelligence—all are one and the same and can be the greatest healing factor in dealing with modern day stress.

The body is an energy field. The mind is an energy field. The emotions are energy fields. Stress is an energy factor that disturbs those energy fields, attacking the balance of mental, physical, and emotional energies. Since energy and physical matter are interchangeable—or matter is an outer physical manifestation of energy—a disturbance of the underlying energy field in the body will result in a physical disturbance, or ill health.

Spirit is the first cause or first energy of the universe, underlying the existence of all other energies that comprise the material substance of all things, including the human body. All the energy fields of your body, mind, and emotions are dependent—for their very existence—on the first energy of all things.

By fully activating Spirit throughout the body, mind, and emotions, the healing effect of Spirit administers to the energies of the body, mind, and emotions. They are thus returned to balance or to the energy rhythms and frequencies most responsive to regulating peace, serenity, calm, and a relaxed control over the energy fields of the body, mind, and emotions.

By depending on Spirit, God, or first energy, the body, mind, and emotions can effectively deal with stress to maintain or regain the inner peace necessary for health. If you or someone you know is suffering from stress, the first line of defense should be spiritually healing the stress.

Don’t wait or hesitate. At the first sign that you are feeling stress, tension, or anxiety, immediately affirm that God is handling the situation or condition. Keep affirming that until you begin to feel more peaceful, calm, and in control. It may take anywhere from a few seconds, to a few minutes, or longer, depending on the degree or intensity of the stress you are experiencing.

Your affirmative words invoke the higher natural healing intelligence in you to activate certain energies within your body to deactivate the stress. The main point here is to affirm immediately during the very first moments you feel under stress. The longer you wait before dealing with stress, the more it flows through your body, and it can take longer to eliminate.

By declaring that God is handling the situation, you immediately take the pressure off your personal ego in dealing with it. In so doing, you remove the stress associated with your personal ego attempting to deal with whatever is causing you tension or anxiety.

In dealing with stress, the emphasis is on the healing of consciousness—the consciousness energy throughout the body. We could almost think of this as preventative spiritual healing, as we are seeking to remove the stress that will cause a physical condition to manifest. It could be said, “An ounce of energy prevention is worth a pound of curative drugs.”

There is no doubt that the more you meditate, the more equipped you are to handle stress. Each time you meditate, your mind increasingly remembers what you feel like in meditation. Whenever you feel the first signs of stress, try to become quiet and attempt to feel or relive the peace and serenity you feel during a full meditation period. If you are a true meditator, the memory level of your mind will take over and duplicate the energy that you have felt during deep meditation periods. That energy will work on the energy consciousness of your body to neutralize the stress you may be feeling.

Meditating daily keeps your body, mind, and soul open to receiving the tranquility and serenity that is God’s Presence within you. As a result, you are more peaceful and better able to handle stress, even at times when you are not actually meditating. When you meditate, the peace-restoring energy of God’s Presence within you moves through the energies of your body to sublimate stress-type energy into the peace of God’s energy. Think of it this way: The world around you is filled with stress, while the world within you is always one with God’s Peace.

As you engage in your daily activities, if a stressful situation occurs, be aware that you have the peace-producing assurance that God will handle it for you. Real confidence that this is so, requires you to turn over your personal will to God’s Will for your life. In so doing, God takes over, and it is God’s Presence that handles any stress-producing condition or situation as it occurs. If you have turned over your personal will to God’s Will for your life, you can have faith that God will handle stress in your life, either by minimizing it or eliminating it altogether.

By declaring God as the true doer, it takes away the illusion of your personal ego self, which has difficulty in dealing with life’s stressful situations. You are stating the absolute truth of beingness, and in so doing, releasing the responsibilities that cause stress within your personal ego.
