“Life as a School”

If a person were to attempt to derive some spiritual meaning from life, it could be likened unto a temporary school, occupied by one’s soul as it makes its way through eternity.  Life and its experiences become as instructors, teaching each soul to better understand the reality of life according to the soul’s evolvement to comprehend it on a conscious level. Herein is part of life’s mystery, that the soul learns consciously or unconsciously.

Everything that is experienced becomes part of the subconscious memory-levels of one’s mind, whether seen or unseen, whether of this physical world or other worlds.  A person may therefore be unaware that their soul is going through a learning process. The main consideration, however, is that learning is taking place and that it has effects on one’s soul.

From the opening to the closing curtain, life is a play, with one entering the first scene as an infant and leaving as an older person. Between these two extremes of our entrance and our departure, life itself is very precious. It could be said that life’s experiences teach us about ourselves, so much so, that after a time, many will come to learn about the existence of a higher order of life within them.

Outer, physical experiences of the world surrounding us eventually invoke an inner spiritual world. At times, what we may be lacking outwardly serves to teach us about the vast potential within us, as we are forced to reach deep inside ourselves to that unconscious reserve, which will eventually be our hope of an improved future, whether in this lifetime or in others beyond the soul’s present life sojourn.

What each person learns may vary greatly from one individual to another, depending upon how far they have actually evolved their consciousness on a universal scale of measure. Two people may respond, on a conscious level, in very different ways to the same experience.

One may react on a conscious level, while the other is oblivious consciously, although the learning process is still registered and recorded in the subconscious memory-level of the mind, to be drawn upon in whole or in part when the time is appropriate. Drawing upon what is in the memory-level of one’s mind is not limited to an accumulation in this single lifetime, but includes all previous lifetimes of recorded experience. Everything that has ever been experienced that is of lasting truth is retained in the soul’s memory-level, to be drawn upon when the evolutionary time is right and conditions warrant.

The lessons that are to be learned are spiritual ones. On the surface, many would appear to be worldly, but beneath the surface, they are part of the learning process of the soul. Because all experience must affect the person over many lifetimes, their lessons belong to the realm and province of their own soul.

Each worldly experience in this lifetime must be understood to have a spiritual side or counterpart that will go on beyond this one life to eternally serve the soul. The spiritual side of all your experiences in this lifetime is what is ultimately important and significant, as all else passes with the dusts of time.

The eternal part alone lives on, and therefore is the true measure of value and importance.  Material possessions or needs can serve only a temporary purpose at best, to provide enough comfort for a person that their mind may be free of any worldly pressures in order to be free to pursue the spiritual reality of their own being and its relationship to others and the Universe. Being in a position to surround oneself with beautiful possessions of this world is only of worth when an atmosphere of beauty surrounding oneself is stimulating and conducive to pursuing the source of all beauty to be found in the spiritual realm of oneself. Beyond what is described here, material possessions and beauty serve only the fleeting purposes of physical self-indulgence, and are thus a diversion from sensing the true, lasting value of life to be found within one’s own soul.

Until a soul learns the spiritual lessons of life, the outer manifestation of one’s life may be in a hurry to do something that, in reality, amounts to nothing of any real value. Patience, carried out to its ultimate spiritual side, is eternity itself. Being patient does not mean going to another extreme and doing nothing under the name and guise of having found eternal peace. It does mean maintaining one’s composure in the light of the spiritual side or reality of what is taking place at any given moment of eternal time.

When life’s lessons are learned sufficiently to the point wherein a person realizes that it is one’s eternal soul that is doing the learning, then the concept of maintaining balance in one’s life takes on a spiritual side. Balance, then, becomes a balance of body, mind and soul, spirit, or one’s spiritual nature and the presence of God abiding within it.

Through living one’s life and formulating a lifestyle to accommodate it, a person does what is necessary to maintain a balance between the needs of the body, mind and spirit respectively. Also learned is that although one should strive for a balance as the preferred ideal, should the need for a choice between the three ever arise, the spirit must take priority, since it is the very foundation upon which the body and outer mind ever exist.

The main point to be gleaned from this is that there is a spiritual side to everything that takes place in the human experience, and that this is the most important thing in life to be learned.

“Healing a Love Relationship”

Healing a love relationship is one of the most important things you can do in your life. After all, love is life’s most precious human experience. When the love relationship in your life is right, the world is a much better place to be in, with the sky looking bluer and the grass greener! When the love in your life is in a negative state, it can cause great emotional and even physical pain. No emotional turmoil seems to be greater than that which one may experience in regard to love.

When a love relationship is in trouble, there is no doubt that a healing of some kind should take place. The need for the healing of a personal relationship can manifest at various stages of a relationship, for example, before great involvement, definitely during involvement, and certainly after a relationship ends.

Difficulties in the early stage of a relationship require healing, or the relationship will be destined to go no further. Quite often the need for healing comes from negative feelings carried over from previous relationships, where the new person in one’s life symbolizes negative characteristics of a previous lover or spouse.

Healing a love relationship should take place on all levels; physical, mental and spiritual. One without the other two is not a full healing. Hence, the negativity is carried on to future relationships. Of the three, healing on a spiritual level of one’s being is the most important, because it is a soul-to-soul love that is the most profound love possible.

Carrying around an unhealed love relationship can also adversely affect the health of the body. If a person is chronically ill in some way, it is vital to be certain that all love relationships have been healed.

If you are in need of healing a love relationship, turn it over to God. The sooner you do, the sooner you will experience relief through divine healing, or healing from God. Really turning it over to God completely and wholeheartedly can truly invoke God’s inner peace. When you turn something over to God, realize that the healing will come about according to God’s Will for the relationship.

If God feels that you have gained all you can from a relationship, then it will be God’s Will to heal any ill feelings and let you and the other person part in a positive manner. Often a person who is in need of healing in a love relationship will not immediately turn it over to God, feeling that the person’s personal ego will be able to restore health and healing to a relationship.

I advise people to turn it over to God at the very first sign of a need for healing. This is before it gets out of hand or has the opportunity to fester and become deep-seated in the mind, making it more difficult to uproot and heal.

Meditation can be a key to healing. Just as meditation can promote physical healing and create well-being in the body, it can certainly do that in the mind and the soul. Every time you meditate, you tap into the natural healing intelligence of your body, or God’s presence.

Thoughts and emotions are energy frequencies that are subject to healing when brought under the influence of the natural healing energies released by God during every practice of meditation. Negative feelings and emotions associated with a love relationship are sublimated into positive energy factors, thus bringing about a healing within you.

Because there is usually a psychic energy interplay between you and your lover, as you are healed through meditation, so, too, are they healed to a lesser or greater extent. A telepathic exchange between energy factors in your unconscious and theirs can stimulate the healing process between the two of you. Apart from any psychic interplay, there is greater peace and clarity when you are with a lover as a result of meditating, which aids the healing process.

The eyes are the windows of the soul, as the saying goes. When real love exists between two people, love exists in the very depth of their souls. During any difficulty in a love relationship, that love continues, deep within their souls. During any time when healing is necessary, suggest that both of you sit quietly and stare into each other’s eyes.

Whether it’s a twinkle or an energy evident in the eyes, as you look into each other’s eyes, if real love exists between you, there will be a reaction of some kind. Whether both of you break into a smile, or suddenly find yourselves compelled to embrace, some positive healing reaction will take place. Just sit quietly until it does, giving the love for each other that is in both your souls the opportunity to rise to conscious awareness.

God is love, and God’s love manifests as light in a spiritual realm. One of the grand mysteries of life is that human beings are multi-dimensional and exist simultaneously in different dimensions. In the realm of God’s light, you visualize your higher counterpart and your lover’s higher counterpart in an embrace. The embrace signifies or symbolizes that all is healed between you. It signifies that God’s healing love, as light, has healed your very souls. Further, it signifies that only goodness and love exist around you and within you both, in your visualization.

This is a very powerful visualization and should only be used when true love exists in both parties. Otherwise, you would be attempting to psychically coerce the other person, which would cause the visualization to fail, since you cannot have untruth in God’s light or presence.

“Is It Love or Fantasy?”

St. Paul once commented that the greatest thing is love. He was expressing life’s greatest truism, for love is the most wonderful of all of life’s experiences. Indeed, even if a person had total wisdom, the conclusion derived from all that knowledge would be that of all things in life, love is the most important.

This is so, for in love we find the foremost of all Universal Truths—that there is but One Life in this Universe, and all manifestations are bonded or in union with the One Life that is God. Love is the experience of unity, and therefore, Universal Unity is Universal Love. This is why we can draw the conclusion, quite comfortably, that God is Love.

This also tells us why there is such a need to experience love in human beings. It is because love ultimately is a manifestation of the Greatest Truth and Presence in the Universe. With such a natural, innate compulsion to experience love in one’s life, it is no wonder that in man and woman’s often frantic search to find love, errors in judgment are made.

Like the proverbial moth drawn to a flame, men and women—driven for the need to have love in their lives—often make the wrong choices, whether in marriage or in a significant other. Enormous numbers of broken hearts and broken marriages attest to this fact. For this reason, it is critical to know and be able to discern whether a current relationship or a prospective one is love or fantasy.

If one considers the number or percentage of failed relationships and marriages, it can be concluded that the majority of relationships or marriages are not based on love, but rather, on fantasy. Anything that is real is lasting. Anything that is not real cannot stand the test of time and will come to an end. If all of this is true—and of course it is—then whether in a relationship or contemplating one, every human being must honestly answer this question to themselves: “Is it love or is it fantasy?”

The correct answer to this question will allow a person to make the necessary judgments and decisions as to how to respond in a current or prospective relationship, particularly if they are intuitively open to God’s inner guidance.

If you are meditating daily and have truly turned your life over to God, then the correct realization of whether it is love or fantasy will come into your awareness. Remember that real love begins on a spiritual level. God knows which soul is right to join with yours. If it is real love, then it is God that has brought your soul and that of another together.

This may be the first time, but the likelihood is that your soul’s relationship with another soul has existed many times—perhaps throughout eternity. If this is truly the case, you and the other person will sense it; it is positive, universal, soulmate karma at work between the two of you. This does not mean there will never be problems between the two of you, for problems are challenges that are meant to stimulate further spiritual growth and the love you have for each other.

To correctly discern whether you are experiencing real love, as opposed to fantasy, consider this: Fantasy is based on need. Real love is not.

The needs of fantasy include, but are not limited to, sexual desire, financial security, emotional security, acceptance, position in life, power, or fame. In other words, fantasy is based on what you can get from the other person.

Real love, on the other hand, is based on what you can give the other person, because you love them so deeply you feel it in the very depths of your soul. Fantasy is based on fleeting superficialities, while real love is founded by God on lasting reality.

The more you meditate, and the more you turn your life over to God, the more sensitive and aware you will be spiritually. The more spiritually sensitive and aware you are, the more you can sense what is in another person’s soul.

If you find beauty and light there instead of darkness, and have an appreciation for what you have found, then the chances that you have found real love are enormously improved. If you are in love with the inner beauty you have found in the other person, and they are in love with the inner beauty they have found in you, the likelihood is that it is real love and not fantasy. If this is a shared beauty, this is the basis for a lasting love—a love that will last beyond physical life and through all eternity.

Of course, the most wonderful sharing you can have with another person is the sharing of God. As described earlier, God is the very essence of Love. Real love is being able to share that Divine Love by first opening your heart to God, and then opening it to another person’s heart, which is occupied by God.

Finally, to even more clearly define whether it is love or fantasy in your mind, ask yourself this: “Who is my best friend?” If you can unequivocally answer that the other person is your best friend—and the best friend you’ve ever had—the chances are very favorable that you are experiencing real love rather than fantasy.

Being best friends means you are on the same mental and spiritual wavelength, where you are so in tune with each other you can almost finish each other’s sentences or thoughts. With your best friend there is a trusting freedom to think and be yourself. And things you would say to no one else, you would say to them.

That kind of trust is a spiritual trust. It is a sacred trust between two hearts, both containing God’s Presence. And that kind of trust is a true sign of real love.

“The Power of Spiritual Concentration”

In today’s complex world, more than ever before, so much is competing for one’s attention. It is increasingly easier to become distracted from whatever it is that a person attempts to improve or accomplish in one’s life. People living in contemporary society simply have much more to do and be responsible for than did previous generations.

There may be less to do in regard to physical work, perhaps because of the high-tech age into which the world has moved, but this has been replaced with work requiring our mental attention or concentration. Our daily lifestyle requires a state of mind that can maintain concentration on appropriate priorities, if we are to remain on track as to what is expected of us by others and, most importantly, what we expect of ourselves.

For many of us, maintaining any consistent degree of concentration is difficult due to the demands which we may be facing in our daily lives. Thus, attempting to maintain concentration may, in itself, become a source of stress, as we struggle with our minds to keep them focused on the business at hand. Such stress is even more pronounced if a person is functioning on a purely intellectual level in life, without the support and relief that the spiritual presence of God within a person’s mind can provide to the more surface levels that are attempting to maintain concentration.

There are two basic forms of concentration practice available, the intellectual and the spiritual. Most people function only on the intellectual level and that includes many individuals professing some sort of religious faith. In the vast majority of such cases of the believer, God is involved in only the most difficult of times.

As we evolve, however, the Presence of God is involved the majority of the time, and not just in times of crisis or acute stress on the intellectual faculties of the mind. Such a daily communion with the Presence of God turns anything that might begin as an intellectual concentration into a practice of spiritual concentration.

The power of spiritual concentration can be emphasized even more if it is realized that what normally disturbs or distracts a person’s concentration takes place at a personal level of surface ego consciousness. It is one’s personality level of mind that is most easily vulnerable to being diverted because it is so susceptible to reacting to outer sense impressions or environmental input.

However, when individuals are maintaining their concentration at a spiritual level, the lesser stimuli that attract the attention of the personal ego level of the mind are left behind, so that the attention of the mind can train itself on the immediate business at hand.

The benefits of the power of concentration are numerous. For the sake of encouragement as to the great value concentration of the mind can provide, let’s highlight only a few areas of our lives and being that can benefit from applying the power of concentration.

Most obvious, and perhaps most important in any benefit to be derived from the power of concentration is that of achieving the goals that we set out to realize. Far more people would accomplish the goals they started out to achieve if their concentration had been maintained on what they were attempting to complete.

By keeping our concentration on an original goal, and by possibly utilizing spiritual concentration, we may accomplish far more than our original goal. This is because the original goal was a starting point of concentration which, step by step, led us to different or loftier aims. With a new sense of achievement over and above what we had originally intended, we are able to maintain concentration.

Striving to improve our career or employment status can be enormously affected by our ability to maintain concentration; first, in whatever goals we are trying to accomplish, and second, in actually taking the steps to achieve them. Realization of a successful career can become sidelined by losing concentration as a result of co-workers or associates we must interact with, along with personal or family commitments. Practicing the power of concentration should not be intended to block out such interactions while they are occurring, but rather, to make the most productive use of the time when they are not taking place, by bringing the mind to a full concentration when the time is available.

To be creative, a person must transcend the surface levels of the mind to enter into the creative levels where true innovation exists in the expression of uniqueness, originality, discovery, and inspiration. The practice of concentration enables an individual who is proficient at it to shift mental gears from the outer surface, intellectual, and analytical levels into contact with the creative flow or intuitive levels of the mind. Concentration, in and of itself, will not allow entry to the creative level. However, it will focus the mind inwards, adequately creating a mental atmosphere conducive to the emergence of the creative flow on the mind’s surface levels. This allows the resourcefulness to be comprehended and recognized as a guiding force in whatever a person’s creative pursuits might be.

Being able to concentrate our attention on those we love, and thus be able to love more abundantly can, next to our relationship to God, be the most important thing in our lives. No matter what we may accomplish as a result of our concentration powers in a worldly sense, it means little, if anything, unless its fruits are shared with others on a deeper, more personal level. Having the control over our mind to be able to leave the proverbial “office at the office” can require the ability and mental agility to shift our focus from concentration at the workplace to those who give us purpose.

The power of ordinary intellectual concentration has its benefits; however, if concentration becomes aided by the spiritual levels of our mind or, more specifically, by the Presence of God within us, then the power of concentration can become far more effective and potent. If we can truly turn over our personal will to God, to be replaced by God’s Will for us, then all the power of our minds, including our powers of concentration, will be empowered by the Presence of God within us.

“All-Channel Living”

The majority of people live limited lives because of limitations they place upon themselves. Although many would argue that life has struck them cruel blows and that is why their options are limited, others can be found who have risen above such conditions to have fuller and more complete lives. It is therefore not so much our circumstances that limit us, but it is rather the reactions of our mind to such conditions, based upon the state of consciousness that dominates our thinking.

Limitations about oneself and one’s life are generally caused by a comprehension of oneself that is born of and exists on an intellectual level of self-comprehension. Intellect, by its very nature, is limited in what it can know, comprehend and correctly evaluate. In essence, people see themselves only at the limited level of understanding of the intellect.

The pictures presented by the intellect to oneself are thus also limited, and not at all representative of the vaster picture that could be produced if one were to go deeper into one’s mind, beyond the surface levels of intellectual comprehension. Limitations caused by leaving one’s life to intellectual evaluation can include the factors discussed below.

People may believe that they are capable of only what they have thus far experienced in life. Perhaps some believe they have the capacity for more than what they already have a background in, but not significantly more. The attitude is, of course, most prevalent as a person weighs factors in regard to their material and financial livelihood.

When a person truly lives by the Spiritual concept that all channels are open to them, they become aware that God’s good is operating in their life. The conscious mind becomes a receptacle for a Universal Flow of Consciousness that fills it with many different possibilities of what a person may do to improve their life at any given moment.

A person is guided on a step-by-step process that brings improvement. Because one is being guided, God’s Mind may have a grander picture in store than one’s present state of mind can comprehend. And so, it must be pointed out that in many instances a person may feel that God is guiding them from Point A to Point B, when in truth it is a steppingstone to bringing them to Point C.

Therefore, an open channel that seems to start originally in one direction may be God’s way of positioning a person closer to where they will eventually be, but cannot intellectually comprehend at the moment.

Having all channels open requires a state of mind that is open to that which is new. Clinging to the past in the mind causes it to cling to the old. Certainly there are many memories that the average person may hold as dear in his mind. This is fine, providing that such memories do not so rule the mind that they cause it to live in the memory of what has been, rather than being open to what can be.

Hostility, anger and resentment toward others will also keep the mind living the old, rather than experiencing the new. Consult God’s Presence to help you understand, and in that understanding, forgive, so that you may move forward and be open to new channels.

Place NO limits on what you can be, have, experience and know.

Visualize the intellectual level of the mind as a dull radiance in your mind’s eye or imagination. Begin affirming: “All channels are open to me.” As you do, mentally imagine that God’s Presence is sending rays of bright light into the conscious level of your mind, illuminating it with guidance, creativity, wisdom, power and love.

While in a relaxed, concentrated, meditative state of mind, repeat the following thoughts to yourself as many times as it takes for you to feel that the thoughts have been accepted by the subconscious part of your mind:

“Today’s Clinical Psychology and Psychiatry in Contrast with an Enlightened Society”

Except for a few souls in this world who are mystically aware, the practice of psychology and psychiatry will not create a truly mentally healthy society.  As it currently stands, the world standard for mental health is collective neurosis.  The occupation of the clinical psychologist and psychiatrist is to adjust the mind to be functional in a dysfunctional society.  In other words, what is called mental health is the ability to function within that which is collectively dysfunctional.  The illusions of one’s personal isolation must be made to fit into the illusions and trends of whatever is considered reality in present-day society.

The basis of identity as viewed by clinical psychology and psychiatry is that the self—one’s identity—is that of a personal ego identity. That is, it’s a product of an organism bumping up against its environment through a long period of time—first to form a simple awareness of itself, and eventually to evolve into an environmentally created identity or ego.  Put enough egos together and you form an ego society.  For whatever reason, if one ego cannot function within the collective ego society in which it dwells, it is then considered dysfunctional, and the role of the mental health clinician is to adjust it—to get it back into step with the collective thinking or the neurosis of today’s ego society.

The flaw in all of this is that a society comprised of personal ego identities is still a society of persons isolated from each other by the virtue of believing themselves to be separate, isolated entities.  And separate, personal egos are fragile at best.  They can be shattered in moments by an outward life-changing event. When individuals do find common ground together, or when groups rally around some common belief of heritage or ideology, this fragmentary sense of separateness can seem diminished.  This sense of belonging can seem to flourish under the banner of religious, nationalistic, or lifestyle beliefs.  Each, in its own way, encourages the collective illusion of meaning in personal ego existence.

But in truth, these personal egos still have no foundation—no reality in truth or in fact.  They are not seen as part of an Eternal Whole, but rather as fragments of an illusionary existence.  When identity is viewed as a personal ego identity—even if it functions within its societal group—it is still an isolated entity unto itself.  For a time, it may function well within the collective group. But given the right (or wrong) set of circumstances, one day it may find itself in conflict with others or with the collective group.

Of course, clinical psychology and psychiatry will defend itself by stating that it is not in the business of philosophy or religion; it is in the business of making people functional within the collective framework of society. And, as clinical psychology and psychiatry currently stand, that is a true assessment.  The problem is that psychologists and psychiatrists become the spokespersons or standard bearers for what society is to believe about the mind and—most importantly—about human identity.  In this manner the illusion of personal ego identity is perpetuated, continuing the kind of ego-centered, fragmented society that breeds conflict and wars.

In contrast, in an enlightened society occupied by enlightened souls, clinical psychology and psychiatry as they are currently practiced would—at best—be considered primitive.  Why? In an enlightened society, personal ego identity would not exist.  The mind would be considered a channel through which Universal Consciousness can be expressed.  All members of an enlightened society would know themselves to be individualized expressions of some unique attributes of the Universal Whole, of the Universal Presence, Mind and Spirit—or God.

Souls incarnating into such a society would not have to be taught about the relationship to the Universal Whole or Presence, for they would incarnate with a knowingness of their Reality.  They would incarnate not to serve temporary rules, but to be consciously co-creative with Universal Presence.  For these reasons, in such an enlightened society of soul minds, clinical psychology or psychiatry would not exist.  Religion, as it is now known on the physical earth plane, would not exist. They would not exist because, from whatever frame of reference one would choose to think about an enlightened society, such a society would be a collection of Christs, Buddhas, Krishnas, and so on.  The common denominator for all persons would be Universal Consciousness Identity—created forms embodying One Universal Mind.

What Is the Bottom Line?

There is no doubt that Clinical Psychology and Psychiatry do play a major role in society by attempting to care for those who are severely mentally ill, and they should be thanked and acknowledged for their efforts.  This commentary is about working with people who are not suffering from some type of psychosis, but rather from a psychoneurosis.  With that in mind, let’s go on to what can be done.

We must keep in mind that, with few exceptions, those who enter the field of clinical psychology and psychiatry are basically illusionary personal egos attempting to treat other illusionary personal egos, so that they may function within an illusionary society comprised of inwardly fragmented and fragile, personal ego-centered identities.

Such a society is a virtual breeding ground for further isolation in the future, until an egotistically driven maniac collects groupings of people who are unhappy and unfulfilled by their existence, and directs them into another war—feeding them with the illusion that such a conquest will fill the void within their souls.  Such has been, and will ever be, the repeating history of this physical earth plane.

To be of value, clinical psychology and psychiatry should have two objectives:

The first is to do what they have been doing, which is to make a person functional within the neurotic whole.  This would then serve to facilitate communication for the all-important second objective.

The second objective would be to lay the seeds for a new concept of identity—that of Universal Identity with Oneness.  To be certain, for the vast majority of persons, Universal Identity and Oneness with God would just be a concept, and they would not suddenly be transformed into enlightened mystics.  But, the seeds would have been planted to grow in the soil of future lifetimes.

To meet the needs of those who are functional in a collective ego-based society, but who feel an inner God Presence prompting them to move beyond a personal ego-based psychological understanding of the mind and consciousness, I created for the International Metaphysical Ministry a Doctoral Degree Program in Theocentric Psychology.

Theocentric means God-Centered. Through a course of study called The Theocentric Way of Life, the focus of Theocentric Psychology is on completing one’s understanding of the Mind and Consciousness, emphasizing that consciousness comes from One Creative Source—namely the Universal Mind and Spirit of God—and that one’s true identity is being aware of this Oneness and the cooperation of the outer human with the Inner Spirit.  In this way, the soul is freed of the collective neurosis that binds it, bringing forth Universal Consciousness and its God-provided potentials.

The Universal Process has been served.

The Universal Embryo has been nourished.

While physical science is moving increasingly to an acceptance of multi-physical universes, mystics—having long since known this—are aware of an even greater complexity: numerous nonphysical dimensions within each physical dimension.

Expanding this reality from a collective one to each individual’s human reality, there comes a realization to every soul on life’s eternal path that they and all other human beings exist in different dimensions simultaneously. An expansion of inner awareness brings the realization that the soul, or true Self, exists in many dimensions, in several different expressions of beingness.

When the psalmist uttered the words, “You are fearfully and wonderfully made,” it was quite likely spoken with an awareness of how vast even one human existence is in its multiplicity.

Likewise, when the Christ Mind that was in Jesus spoke the words, “I am in this world, but not of it,” the words conveyed an awareness of the multiple layers of what constitutes the reality of the Self.

As a person goes through the physical plane’s earthly dimensional life, may there always be an awareness that there is far more to life than the physical senses can perceive, and that the wisest action we can take is to set aside personal ego’s limited awareness and let the Universal Mind and Spirit that is God guide us through the maze of existence.

“Starting Anew: The Metaphysical Dynamics of Beginning a New Year”

The beginning of each New Year symbolizes the possibility of a new beginning or an improvement over what was. It can be a dream or a hope of what can be. To one who is intimately involved with one’s soul in a physical sense, it can be the anticipation that Divine Presence will somehow touch one’s life with increased blessings of some kind in the New Year.

To most people, a New Year does indeed present an opportunity for positive expectation, that somehow, in some way, the possibility exists that things will be better. In order for such dreams and wishes to become realities, the mind must adopt an attitude and state of consciousness that is expectant of improvement, both inwardly and outwardly, and willing to take the action necessary to give energy to one’s thoughts in the day-to-day world of one’s environment.

There are numerous factors that contribute to one finding oneself in a position of starting anew.  Metaphysically, each new start symbolizes the karmic release from something that was necessary to one’s human life experience, and the need to progress to the next step of one’s personal soul evolution. This is very difficult for most people to do, since there is a human need to attempt to hold on to or cling to what has been.  Starting anew, for many people, is only a last resort and something that they do not do cheerfully.

Resistance is psychologically understandable, as people may find themselves reacting internally to the fear of the unknown while clinging to the security that exists within the confines of familiarity. Starting anew encompasses many unanswered questions that threaten one’s sense of sameness. In the more surface human levels of the mind, the choice may be to leave well enough alone, even though what constitutes well enough may be far from what might be a necessary part of evolution.

To experience expansion and growth in a New Year, you must believe in your heart that you can. No surface, casual, simple wishing will make it so. The mind responds to the power of your belief because belief becomes faith when the basis of belief is enforced by a spiritual premise to give its possibility credence.

It requires a newness of spirit to sublimate the uncertainties of old patterns of thought into a new dynamic energy able to lift one beyond what has been to what can be. In short, the need is to be fueled by the fire of one’s own spirit or, more specifically, the Spirit that is the Presence of God within oneself.

The chains of psychological dependency to the past can melt away when contacted by the pure white heat of one’s own God-Spirit.  An internal cleansing, as it were, takes place, to give newness to the mind, or, as the Bible states, “Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

The mind must concentrate its focus on the present and future, and not on the past and what has been. Along with a willingness to let go of the past, you must be more aware and conscious of your own Spiritual Reality.  Concisely stated, you must grow. It is more likely for growth to come correctly and readily when you are aware of and using the God-Part of your mind.

You must consider yourself in a different position than you were in years past and regard the differences as positive, because with more living and experience, you have grown to be wiser and more aware than in the past. In order to confirm that you are a different person in a positive way, you will put your consciousness into action: make new choices and do new things that you did not take on in the past.

To activate this resolution, it is suggested that you look into yourself, into the God-Part of your mind, so that you may be intuitively guided to know what new directions, activities, thoughts, and decisions you should implement. The realization must be present in your mind that repeating identical lifestyle experiences of past years, without introducing anything new, will prevent you from truly starting a New Year in a way that will set positive dynamics into motion.

God’s Presence alone, within oneself, can reveal the purpose of one’s soul and the newness that must be its experience.  This far supersedes the surface level of the mind. Such revelation does take place, whether in the twinkling of an eye or over a lengthy period so that further experience can occur. This enables the mind to comprehend that its real life is the presence and purpose of the soul, and that the soul is an individualized manifestation of the Spirit, or God. If we are to be rescued from a jail-like existence in our own mind, we must receive the inspiration of God from the sanctuary of our heart.

Ever-renewing newness is the nature of God-Presence. God as Infinity is constantly renewing all within Creation that, as the Bible states, “… live, move, and have their being” within God.

In your consciousness, you must firmly establish that you will let God guide you in doing new things and taking new directions. With faith that God will intuitively guide you, resolve within yourself that you will put into action those choices, directions, and activities that you have had an interest in doing, but for one reason or another, have not executed.

The closer that one is to God, the greater the possibility that the person’s soul will touch the Universal Spirit whose Nature, being part of constant renewal, will infuse the soul with the energy of its newness.  It will thus translate that newness of Divine Energy into thought that is discernible to one’s conscious mind as an inspiration to enliven one’s sense of life and living to start anew.

Affirmation:

I recognize that my first priority as I start a New Year and throughout it is to seek God’s heavenly consciousness at the center of my mind, knowing that through such contact all else that I need will be added to me.

“The All-Important Application of Spiritual Truth”

Spiritual truth can be the greatest liberator from an unfulfilled life. Jesus once said, “Know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” Spiritual truth is hidden deep down within the unconscious of every human being. It is the kingdom of heaven within. This enormous spiritual mystery and truth exists within every living soul. These truths can be uncovered in two ways. One is through daily meditation, which opens the inner spiritual eye. The other is through intellectually coming into contact with the assertions of higher consciousness that may be found in books or learned from others.

Experiencing spiritual truths firsthand, as glimpsed in the eye of the soul or through clairvoyance in your inner mind’s eye, is by far the experience with the greatest impact upon your psyche. The entire premise of spirituality and what it promises is an opportunity for a better life. However, without application, it will not be possible to improve one’s life. If there was something missing before the possession of spiritual truths, it will remain missing. While “knowledge is its own reward,” as a wise person once observed, it will fail to improve one’s life unless applied to daily living. To simply know spiritual truths is not enough to improve, enrich, and elevate the quality of one’s life. Thus, we see that first comes the knowledge and then, of equal importance, is its application to life’s pursuits. Without such application, spiritual truths have no practical value in life, either physically or spiritually.

Through my years of observing people, I have noticed that numerous individuals have spent years reading and attending lectures, seminars, courses, and workshops on higher spiritual truths, only to have their lives languish and, as a whole, show no measurable growth. The reason for this is plain and simple. They may have read, heard, and even experienced higher spiritual truths, but they have failed to apply them to their daily lives. It is not enough to know the truth; it requires becoming the truth. Christ explained this truth in these words: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” This means that you live the truths that, by God’s grace, you have been favored to learn in this lifetime.

Many mysteries of life are revealed to the sincere and consistent student of meditation. Any of these truths are applicable to daily life. Of course, the most significant of these truths comes through the ultimate experience of meditation—that is, the mystical experience of the presence of God. This meditational experience provides lasting proof of a person’s oneness with God. From such knowing of oneness, a positivity and spiritual faith can emerge that can be applied appropriately to whatever is taking place in your life.

If things are not going well and you are in a down cycle, you recognize that God’s presence is forever with you in a state of eternal oneness with your soul. This gives you the faith and positivity to keep going until you move to the next “good” cycle. If things are going well and you are in a positive cycle, your spiritual knowingness of the ultimate spiritual truth will supply you with energy and momentum for making great strides while in the positive cycle.

Through higher states of inner consciousness, you also gain the knowledge that other dimensions do exist. Such knowledge can have a strong impact on your life. Through this experience you realize that this one life that you are now living is not the end of life, and that your life will continue after your physical body ceases to function. Such truth causes you to be more philosophical, or at peace in your reaction to what is taking place around you. You realize that there is a law of cause and effect that goes beyond this life, and that you will reap what you sow in this lifetime, and beyond this lifetime. This knowledge can have a positive influence when, and if, applied to your present life.

In the ultimate spiritual level of your beingness, the presence of God exists as pure infinite light. That light contains all spiritual truths and all wisdom. It knows exactly which spiritual truth can be applied to what is taking place in your daily physical life activities. Whatever is taking place in your life, at any time, maintain a state of mind that it shall be dealt with spiritually. With such an attitude, you will find that you are being divinely directed to apply the appropriate spiritual truths to the events taking place.

There are many spiritual truths you can apply to your daily life as it unfolds before you. Some of these truths are the truth of God’s love, the truth of God’s forgiveness, the truth of God’s abundance, and the truth of God’s healing. Application of these truths is not limited to decision-making, but can also be a source of clarification for issues that are confusing to you, but require your attention and action.

Keep in mind that applying spiritual truths to your life attunes your mind more closely to God’s mind. The more spiritual truths you apply to your life, the closer you are to God’s mind, whose mind consists of all spiritual truths. Every truth in the mind of God is a thought-energy. The more you fill the conscious, mortal part of your mind with spiritual truths, the more your mind’s energies are in tune with God’s mind-energies. As a result, your energies invoke or harmonize with God’s mind-energies, which causes them to surface into your conscious mind, thus empowering you through God’s presence within you at the center of your consciousness. When you actually apply a spiritual truth, it is further activated into motion, becoming even more powerful in its effect than it could possibly have been without the application. Knowing spiritual truths and failing to apply them is repressing God’s power as an active part of your life.

In short, applying spiritual truths to your life is thinking the same way that God thinks. Remember, the universe—and everything in it—was created by God, based upon God’s application of God’s spiritual truths.

“The Silence of Absolute Love”

In a letter to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul expressed life’s goal in these words: “And now abide faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

Beyond human definitions of silence and love, there exists the realm of original Silence, Peace, and Love, where conflict and duality do not exist, and where all are in Ultimate Union with the One. Here, no words need to be spoken or thoughts responded to. Being in Absolute Love is to open oneself to Absolute Silence, Peace, Presence, or God.

In a world dominated with practical necessities, there can be nothing more practical than having a consciousness that is able to find an Absolute Silent Clarity of mind—so much at Peace, it can see through worldly confusion and duality to know what is truly necessary in this world.

This same state of Silent Clarity is one with Absolute Love, Peace, and Presence. This means that all practicalities, dualities, and conflicts can be, or are to be, met with a greeting of Absolute Love—not just for the good of one individual situation or one soul, but for the greater good of all beings, who are, in Truth, one with All.

Attaining such a state of Silence and Loving Presence provides all that is necessary to live in this earthly world and in worlds beyond—to live in Loving Silence, Peace, and pure Presence, where words are not necessary.
