Something a bit different this week. Back to my roots, made a 4-channel Amiga Protracker module in a deliberately crack intro style, partly because I found this great rewrite of PT2 Clone called Zoopertracker, but also as I felt I was too busy thinking about how other people would react to my music and I was applying too much pressure on myself, so a nice no-nonsense chip tune was just the ticket.

This one could do with a bit more variation and maybe a rhodeish lead on top, but I am happy with the sound aesthetics. I had Bukem's Demons Theme running in my mind and was in a bit of a Jungle Daze (I hope you see what I did there).

Battling the battle music and losing. Wrestling with that took up most of week. Sleep is off. Projects are really overlapping now. Still having difficulty defining clear direction. Ramping up on Delorean Overdrive MAGWest show. Initial meet up with DN for practice and Art and wine festival walking w/ AL. K&T hosted open house for their art school. Rode bikes. Met some  artist and chatted about their work. T&D came. Talked about ADHD and life. Flet good, like being part of the art scene back in college again. Good community building.New cheap camera came in mail. Experimented w/ all week. Nice to have a lowstakes toy that doesn't distract like phone camera does. Honestly a devoted monochrome camera would be perfect for what I want to do. Made custom filters.

Art market boothing w/ AL. Good day. chatted w/ neighbors and artists. Best sales to date. Great event, met interesting strangers and organizers gave cool gifts for participating. Apartment a mess w/ her and my stuff out.

2 layers of improvised sounds. Synth made from a chord sample made from another sample synth using Casio SA-10 sample. Played some random chords w/ the chord sample for a few minutes. When listening back, recorded a web SDR scan through the 40m radio frequency set to LSB. Printed it and called it a day.

Howdy friends!

I'm out on the road this weekend, so this week's submission doesn't come with a video or the regular bells and whistles.

Also didn't get much time for music this week, so I banged this little bad boy out in about 1h30m on Friday night after having driven 4h to visit family. It feels weird to upload so early. I'm typically one of those people who submit one or two hours before the deadline.

Anyways, this is another super simple short and sweet one.

Quick little speedtrash track to keep my bi-weekly beat streak alive! My hapax muscle memory was starting to atrophy, so I sequenced this track on it, and played via my Ableton Move. Recorded onto a field recorder, and shoved through Ozone in Ableton to get the levels as best I could.

After a short break of 6 weeks... and 14 years, I'm giving the back end of this project another spin.

I was curious about how it would feel and what would emerge after a long break in which I've not just learned a hell of a lot as a musician and producer but also gone through a lot of personal and professional changes. I'm really happy with the result, to be honest.

And not just the track itself, but the process was a lot more... intentional.

Probably the biggest difference to my previous entries in 2012 is that my ability to kill my darlings is a lot stronger. This track went through about five shifts of what the 'core' idea would be before I landed here, including a lot of re-writing and discarding of patterns and plugin settings that had already been dialled in, which would have been unheard of when I first started doing this.

So, yeah, hopefully this is sustainable for the rest of the year given the life changes that have happened in the last 5 weeks... and 14 years :)
