  • Week 25 - nukecult - Virus
I made 3 loops to start instead of 2 like I normally do, so it gave me more freedom to mix stuff later. Not sure if it is good or is just too busy. I like how it raises at the end.

  • Week 25 - peachyp - mind is a divinity
    >_< had cold most of the week and couldnt record this the way i wanted to but oh well
Ive been really into silly fast acoustic on-the-nose lyrics campfire style songs that rhyme a little too much >_< this one about that friendship,, and feeling angy abt the world,, and mind things,,
    here are the lyrics:
    My mind is a divinity
    A chamber of self scrutiny
    In humanity’s disparity
    Everyone feels alone
Are we running out of empathy?
    And hardened by our history
    I guess dissonant realities
    Resolve !
    And I feel powerless
    Why am I still trying?
    Then I see you,
    I guess I’d want to
My mind likes to play tricks on me
    Shows pictures of catastrophes
I know you feel it to
Just wish that I could be your home
I know it just sounds like sympathy
But you know from our history
    The place where healing
    Is where love grows
    Though I feel powerless
    It’s still worth trying
    Just to see you,
    That’s all I want to

  • Week 25 - gesceap - Tapetestlibrarymusic
I sampled some library music from youtube onto tape, then back into nanoloop, made a beat.
experimenting with ideas, I got the tape recorder before WB and it feels fitting with the logo.
It is actually easier with a cassette recorder to record a few sounds and then record into nanoloop than find a bunch of material and then edit and copy over the file.
I have a few tracks like this I'll share in the next few weeks.

  • Week 25 - Snyderman - Famicom Dance System
Returned to the NES / Famicom Disk System well for a dance tune. I'm definitely putting that Sunsoft bass to work. As often happens I didn't write a real ending but it does feature some of my favorite tricks; heavy syncopation, pitch bends and arpeggios and lots of short staccato sounds.
I feel like my stuff has turned a corner lately and it's coming to me a lot more easily. Had to submit by Friday this week since I'm out of town but happy with it mostly.

  • Week 25 - Cursory - Lost In a Lake
Happy to have had a bit more time to workshop a song/arrangement this week. Lyrics came first, and I can’t help but put four tracks of slide guitar on a song whether or not it’s needed. Also wondered if “normal” drums would have suited this song more as I neared the end. Approaching the halfway point of the year, we’ll see if I can’t be more consistent this second half.
Anyway, this is my ode to geese I guess?
    › Lyrics‹ Lyrics
    A long legged preener
    Knee deep among
    Glittering, endless blue sun
    A head down, wing cleaner
    Not much more to see
    Not long until our leave
    Could I begin each day
    A visitor, a skipping stone
    Lost in a lake
    Some water man watching
    Boats ebbing by
    Flowing, floating ‘long tides
    A caravan leaving
    Should we stay behind?
Or else follow blindly, unsure what we’ll find
    Could I spend each day
    A visitor, a skipping stone
    Lost in a lake
    Could I lie in wait
    A visitor, a skipping stone
    Following a path thrown
    Travel as the tides go
    Lost in a lake

  • Week 25 - Cosmic Cairns - Insect World
I just wanted to play with some distorted guitar sounds and then I for some reason started thinking about bugs and this thing just came out.  Uh, hope you're not too bothered by creepy crawlies.
    _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
In the hot damp air a current swirled
Lost somewhere deep in the insect world
Sprouting legs and antennae and wings
Thunder crashed sought shelter from the storm
Held my breath and dove into the swarm
Where I can't be reached by anything
Bees buzzing as crickets chirp near the termite mounds
Red ants are burrowing into the swampy ground
Grasshoppers jumping around in the scraggly weeds
Gnats flying under the tree where the mantis feeds
Starting to feel more at home in this strange place
Never was really much more than an insect
Writhing and wriggling around as a hornet flies
Gazing at vast fields of view through my compound eyes
Beetles and ticks crawl along through the undergrowth
Towards where the butterfly queen takes her sacred oath
Watching the ladybugs dance in the flowerbed
Dodging mosquitoes that whirl all around my head
Hear all the cicadas sing out their droning song
Legions of colorful moths flap their wings along
Letting go of myself joined with the hive mind
I don't miss miss my old life at all
I'm living up to my fullest potential here
    In the insect world's sprawl
