  • Week 18 - Daisy - Lamentation Chromatique
The descending chromatic scale with underlying rhythmic, hymn-like block chords cast a gentle, peaceful yet tragic feeling.  There is very little change in the dynamics of this piece, however lots of variation in the speed of nearly every measure-- so you can't dance to it.  I did this unintentionally, but it does seem to mimic human conversation and expression.  Sometimes when we talk, we speed up, then when we summarize we slow down to a conclusion with a heavy sigh.

  • Week 18 - Kaaareeegar - ahmed abad - time frozen in its movement
Wrote in joy for the city of my birth, Ahmedabad, Gujarat state, India.
Grateful to everything the city has provided.
My city culturally also known for its historic gates, known as darwaazas
In photograph : One of my evening walks to find myself in front of the Jamalpur Darwaza. Looking at the rare fantastic skyline view the gate offers, with a pigeon in flight. A swiftly moving auto rickshaw, having one of its passenger on a phone call

  • Week 18 - muhamor - PLUM TYPO
    Hello!
    › Production notes‹ Production notes
Another week, another attempt at future bass on the M8. This week, I watched a some more production videos and also reviewed Coldsushi's generous notes on my last track. I focused on the following areas:
    - 7th-ish saw chords on hypersynth
    - the mix! (i.e. listening to how each section sounds/what feels loud vs what is quiet)
    - try to have big contrast between sections. I specifically aimed for mono/stereo and wet/dry
    - hypersynth sound design on chords
    - loudness
    - minimal drums
While this track is pretty sparse compared to my usual arrangements, I tried to be more intentional with the placement of every element. In a way it kinda reminded me of when I did my chiptune track where having less elements gave me more time to think about melody and composition. I'd love to spend some more time on this and add a bit more variation to the sections, but alas it is Sunday and the weather is sunny.
    Thanks for listening!

  • Week 18 - JaiClone - Digital Wasteland
The song idea I started on yesterday was not leading me anywhere, so this is a super last minute substitute thingo, intended as a sci-fi synth theme of some sort.

  • Week 18 - Coldsushi - Mantra
Another format that I've been thinking about is the 'artist studies', I get inspired by a lot of music here on weeklybeats and I thought it would be a cool idea to create something every once in a while inspired by another artist, in this case it was Celio Morya. I love his fusion of techno and psy with oriental instruments, it works really well and he is very good at it! Unfortunately I did not have much time this week to explore his genre but I'm quite happy on how the mix turned out, even tho the mood is quite on the dark side and could probably get some high freq love, I still feel everything is well balanced!
The volume is a bit lower than my usual over the top but maybe more enjoybale thanks to the air in the dynamic range, I used the dj filter on the m8 to sweep through frequencies and it surprisingly helped me quite a lot into gain staging kick and bass early on, an interesting technique I might use more often.
    Thank you for listening!!
render straight out of the m8 <3

  • Week 18 - KaZu - Arcade Adventure
    Hey everyone :)
A new week, a new Weekly Beat.
This time, I tried to create my own musical interpretation of what a day at an arcade might feel like.
Starting with heading out in the morning towards the arcade, arriving there and jumping into the first games, all the way to the lunch break where you just lean back, look across the arcade, and watch everyone else playing.
Then of course the gaming session continues, until it’s finally time to pack up the backpack (which, back in those days, was probably just thrown somewhere on the floor anyway :D), head back home, and arrive there completely exhausted but happy.
I’m curious if you can hear the different parts and moments throughout the track :D
Here’s my entry for this week, hope you enjoy it!
    Have a nice day :)
    Cheers
    KaZu
P.S. As always, I’m really grateful for any constructive feedback, opinions, and so on :)
