Let's do some trashy rock. I cut this one closer than usual.
It all started last week when I found this tiny little amp at a thrift store.
First Act is best known for the cheap combo kits found at department stores. Not exactly great pieces of kit. But, I'm always on the look out for new sounds. Also, Dave Grohl mentioned that one of his secret weapons on The Color and the Shape was a little plastic Marshall belt amp. Sure, let's try it. Didn't have a power supply, but I probably had one in my Box o' Bricks at home.
Get home, my power supply that's close enough is two volts low. Oh well, it'll just underpowered it and maybe make it break up more. Let's try it. Plug in the Epi SG.
IT SOUNDS AMAZING. OK, I guess we're making a track with this silly little thing. All guitar tones are miked with a condenser and only added effects are compression and reverb. Only DI instrument is the bass, and no MIDI!
Since I was going to be miking an amp, I thought it would be a good opportunity to try live drums as well. I have a drum kit. It is not a good one. But that's OK, I'm not a good drummer. Logic beat matching to the rescue. Due to the trashy nature of the song thus far, I give it a working name of Trashy.
The rest of the track took shape via text with my wife. I send her the first mix:
Wife: "That is delightfully filthy."
Me: "Needs some equally filthy lyrics. Maybe trashy is actually the title :D 'Sweet and maybe a little trashy'"
Wife: "Sweet in the streets but trashy in the sheets"
Me: "Ooooo"
Wife: "I kinda wanna sing that"
So here we are. I wrote up the words later that day and threw down a placeholder that night. She made some edits and sang it at 3pm on a Sunday after a weekend away. We both decided that "trashy" is a bit demeaning, so "filthy" and "Nasty" it is :)
Done...oh wait, it's 5:10 and I have to make cover art!

My woman
So sweet
Frills and lace
From her head to her feet
But later
At home
Know what I want
When I get her alone
Sweet in the streets
But filthy in the sheets
Nasty
So nasty
She’s smilin'
I’m knowing
With how she looks
There’s a lot she isn’t showin
She’s wanting
I’m needing
Wont’ be long
Till I start with the pleadin'
Sweet in the streets
But filthy in the sheets
Nasty
So nasty
Nasty
So nasty
