The Doppelgangaz and I first linked up when they were a five-man group known as Fab Nickel. Back in 2006, they’d sent me their project, Mark Our Words, which you can check on YouTube. I thought it sounded great and they were the next HipHopGame Demo of the Month. When EP and Matter Ov Fact formed The Doppelgangaz, I continued interviewing them about their projects, and even when I took a hiatus, which has happened a few times, I’d come back to discuss the latest Dopp project because of how much I enjoy their music. It’s been about a year and a half since we last spoke for their Dopp Hopp project. Today, we’re catching up before they head overseas to talk beats, as their fourth instrumental installment of Beats for Brothels dropped. A conversation with E and Matt never follows a script, which is why interviewing these guys is always a blast. Make sure you hit the links to support the music, subscribe to the podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or Stitcher, and read the books. Cop my latest books too, including Words 4, which features some of the best interviews from my archive, and The Chopped Herring Interviews, which uncovers some amazing stories from back in the day through interviews with Curt Cazal, Mister Voodoo, Finsta, Q-Unique, J-Zone, and Masta Ace.
