The Louth /Armagh border is only 4 miles North of the town I grew up in. The IRA active service unit in this area were one of the most lethal in Northern Ireland. Sniper attacks, homemade mortars, roadside bombs and attacks on mainland Britain all originated from a small farming community called South Armagh. This area became a no-go area for the British army, leading the Northern Ireland Secretary to give it the title Bandit country. My guest today is Toby Harden, the author of the book Bandit Country, The IRA & South Armagh
