Hi, Zach here, this is our “don’t call it a reboot” episode of the Emerald City Video podcast. We decided that as opposed to just launching into a new release or to talk just about one of our favorite back catalog films we’d give you five of our favorites.

Back when we worked at Emerald City Video in Upstate NY we had a rental deal where you could get 5 films for 5 bucks for 5 days. It kicked the butt off of anything that Blockbuster had at the time and it was quite popular. But, as renter it was sometimes tough to pull 5 films that you wanted to watch in just a couple days, so if you were an employee of ECV you got really good at giving advice to customers and explaining in short order what films were about.

The way that ECV podcast has done the 5 for 5 episodes in the past was by connecting 5 films to a new release or theatrical film that we had recently seen. “If you saw Moonfall you might like Apollo 18, the found footage sci-fi film.” Get it?

This episode is a little bit different - the connection this time around is us. What are the 5 films that were or still are our go-to recommendations if you wanted to get to know what we like and watch.
