This Introduction Episode will offer you an introduction to what to expect from this podcast, including the intentions behind the creation of The Re·Birth. We talk about what is missing from the spiritual and natural birth communities, how to navigate trauma related to birth and parenting as a spiritual seeker, and I (Melanie, your host!) share a little bit of my story and healing journey.
This podcast for those navigating the portal of motherhood. Here, we hold reverence for this sacred rite of passage, regardless of the circumstances. We are trauma-informed, leaving behind the toxic positivity and spiritual bypassing often woven through the natural birth and parenting community. In these spaces, there is an echo chamber of idealized versions of the "right way" to be a "natural" mother, which can leave us with shame and loneliness if the ideal is not our experience. This is a space of duality; we recognize that through honoring both the dark and the light, we can cultivate greater wisdom, meaning, and magic.
In this podcast, we will engage with stories from mothers, birth workers, and guides in the parenting community, who can hold the capacity for duality, and who understand that being a mother is inherently sacred no matter how magical, medical, transcendent, or traumatizing it might be. All of it is sacred and worthy of being honored.
