Dr. Minette Riordan has successfully built a multimedia publishing company, turning a small quarterly newspaper into a monthly magazine with a circulation of 50,000 copies distributed in over 300 locations. She is an award-winning entrepreneur and bestselling author. After selling her publishing company she moved her family to Santa Barbara and now runs a thriving coaching and training company from their home.
Two words come to mind instantly when Dr. Minette thinks of what leadership means today: integrity and vulnerability. She believes you have to align your internal integrity with how you are showing up in the world on the outside, first and foremost. The vulnerability comes from looking at where she has been hiding in her own life and finding the courage to expose those places to enter a space where she can lead more efficiently and heart felt.
Vulnerability
Many people find it hard to believe that thought leaders and coaches don’t have everything figured out. While they may have 8/10ths of their life figured out, those 2 left over may really be holding them back and be the hardest to get to the root of. For Dr. Minette, she wanted to know what was stopping her from going faster with her business and getting more visibility. She realized that she was hiding in plain sight and noticed that people can pick up on that. In bringing out more of her interior mess into the external world she found that others were able to relate to her better. Not only that, but putting her vulnerabilities out there garnered her an audience—one that helped hold her accountable to making the changes in her life where she needed them.
