God intended that our relationships would be a source of great joy and blessing. Unfortunately, because of sin, our relationships are often the source of our greatest pain. All of us have experienced wounds from relationships. In order to avoid being hurt again, we often hide our true selves and cope with our pain in unhealthy ways, which only deepens our wounds. If we don’t let God heal us, we will continue to suffer and will unintentionally hurt others, perpetuating the cycle of pain. The famous story of Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well is a powerful example of this.
