These traits have served him well, as a former Paramedic for 23 years with London Ambulance Service, as well as having spent four years with the Made for Life Foundation, researching, developing, and gaining accreditation and endorsement for Cancer Touch Therapy training.
Marc is renowned in the industry not only as one of the best tutors and practitioners in his field but for his dedication in ensuring that spa and wellness experiences are accessible and enjoyed by all making him undoubtedly an all-round nice guy.
With impressive expertise in the spa and wellness industry spanning more than 25 years; a decade of which was spent operating and managing spas in the Asia Pacific region, Kirsty MacCormick has a plethora of experience and skills from operations and management, financial and budget prep, employee development and motivation, as well as a love and knowledge of spa and wellness from a hands-on perspective.
As Director of Spa, Kirsty has managed some of the world’s most renowned and outstanding spas including Mandarin Oriental in Beijing and Tokyo, and The Old Course at St Andrews. She is also a successful businesswoman and entrepreneur in her own right, founding and owning a thriving and award-winning nail and beauty therapy company in Edinburgh.
In this week's episode of Wellness in Your World, Kirsty speaks the truth about how wellness, beauty and spa is an inspiring, fulfilling career that has the opportunity to send you around the world many times over. Learning skills that change lives mentally, physically, and emotionally, wellness is taking it's well deserved place in the 'careers to have arena'.
On this week's podcast episode, we welcome personal trainer and nutrition specialist Al Langlands. For over 10 years Al has run a successful personal training business in and around Edinburgh, latterly also opening a nutrition consultancy specialising in advising endurance and ultra-endurance athletes. In that time he has worked with clients with aims as diverse as competing in high level team sports, adventure races, marathons, weight loss and those battling terminal illness. He manages stroke and cardiac-rehabilitation programmes for a local charity and his remote training and nutrition clients hail from all corners of the globe, including India, North America and Europe. He has also personally competed in a number of ultra-endurance events himself, most recently finishing in the top 10 of the 1080-mile Trans Alba ultra-cycling race.
We talk all things fitness and what that means, particularly now in the light of gym closures, no outside group classes, and any exercise limited to once per day and generally done so alone. Fitness can be a solitary experience for some but also very much a means of social interaction for others; Al comments on how exercise is not only a physical benefit but also a hugely mental benefit for us all.
