This sermon (Follow Me) is based on the call of Simon Peter, Andrew, James and John (Mark 114-20) and highlights the importance of their immediate and complete response - in contrast to Jonahs slow and unhappy response! Dr. Bell challenges his congregation to commit completely to following Jesus when he calls. He touches on the concepts of call, risk, repentance and commitment in the process.

On Sunday, January 15, Dr. Bell used the Epistle lesson from the lectionary readings (I Corinthians 612-20) to remind folks that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. In the New Year, as folks struggle to get in shape, we strive to exercise control and discipline over our bodies. It is especially important at this time to remember that we belong to the Lord - mind, soul AND body!

This Epiphany Sunday sermon provided some historical background to the story of the Star of Bethlehem and the Wisemen. Dr. Bell concluded that the story, properly understood, is a fascinating story and the proper response might simply be Wow!, before stating his New Years prayer that Jesus wow everybody in 2012!

New Years Day calls for a new vision, a new way of seeing and being. We can prepare for moments of holiness by dedicating ourselves to practices of visionary living.
