Peter wrote this letter so that believers could learn to think wholesomely. So they could develop. learn, and live according to pure reason. This purity of thought is the right way of thinking and is necessary for us to live in a way that pleases the Lord.

In this second letter of Peter, Peter is urging his readers to remember important truths regarding the Christian life and to put them into practice. Do what you know. Most importantly remember that Jesus is Lord, we belong to Him and He will see us through whatever we may face.

If you are facing some tough situations today, be encouraged to know that your God will be who you need Him to be again, bring you through again and will do whatever you need again. Psalm 46 reminds us that even when trouble surrounds us we need not fear. The Lord loves us, cares deeply for us and He will see us through. We can rest in knowing that He is our promise making, promise keeping God.

We serve a God whose Hands are not tied and have never been tied. No matter the circumstances we may face, we serve a God whose Hand is mighty and has complete control over your life.  In the words of the prophet Isaiah, chapter forty one, verse ten, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My Righteous Right Hand." Trust the Hands that hold you.

We live with the illusion of certainty, however, there are very few certainties in life. There will be times when events happen and our life can take an unexpected and possibly an unpleasant turn. You can find yourself in a very hard and trying situation. As you cast your cares on Jesus, you will find that you are not alone, not forgotten, not forsaken. God's grace and peace are always available and inexhaustible.

Peter tells us that as followers of Christ, we are all servant leaders. We are to take seriously the need to be godly role models, both tough and tender. Tender enough to pay the price and tender enough to take care of those God has placed in our care.
