That, combined with all the troubling news across the country and around the world, made Eastern Michigan University professor Lolita Cummings-Carson decide she wanted to get students involved in performing random acts of kindness to combat evil with good. 89.1 WEMU'S Lisa Barry visited her EMU classroom and joined students as they walked around campus looking for ways to share something positive.

Most everyone has been touched one way or another by suicide. To raise awareness of suicide prevention, a community walk is planned Friday, September 29th on the Eastern Michigan University campus. The Out of the Darkness Community Walk will begin with opening remarks from local 12th district Congresswoman Debbie Dingell . 89.1 WEMU’S Lisa Barry spoke with Congresswoman Dingell about the event.
