American fast-food chain Wendy's has officially hit Australian shores, with the first restaurant opening on the Gold Coast. 

People were flooding Cavill Avenue to get a taste of the long-standing American restaurant.

Author and health commentator David Gillespie told Shane Doherty on Summer Drive, "Look, we do love a good brand, don't we?"

"You change the brand on the front to Wendy's from McDonald's or Hungry Jack's or whatever it is, it doesn't make any difference," Mr Gillespie continued.
