Can you watch Venom: Let There Be Carnage without having seen Venom? In fact are there any movie sequels you can watch without having seen the first? Plus it's a documentary bonanza with The Way Down: God, Greed, and the Cult of Gwen Shamblin about the weight loss guru / cult leader. Also not one but TWO Britney Spears documentaries. Though we're not sure if either are adding anything valuable to the already oversaturated conversation...

Do you have to remember anything about Venom to see Venom: Let There Be Carnage? Probably not - and that's probably not a great thing. Also WTF is Squid Game on Netflix and why is it on track to be their most streamed show of all time after only 2 weeks?

Did Star Wars: Visions live up to what we envisioned for this anime interpretation? Also just because you can act does that mean you can voice act (we're looking at you newly announced cast of Super Mario Bros.). Finally two adaptations: Isaac Asimov's science fiction classic Foundation on Apple TV+ and the broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen.

How can one adaptation go so horribly awry and one go so "meh" so far? The musical Dear Evan Hansen makes its way to the big screen and Isaac Asimov's Foundation hits Apple TV+.

We watched both LuLaRich and The Eyes of Tammy Faye in the same week which means it's time to talk about: MLMs, pyramid schemes, the prosperity gospel, gender gaps in wages, artificial scarcity, and more! Also the 2021 Emmys were disappointingly devoid of color (once again).

It's impressive that Clint Eastwood is alive and capable enough of making a movie at 91 years old, but at this point who is his audience with Cry Macho? Eastwood may give an unintentionally wooden performance in Cry Macho but at least Dan Stevens delivers an intentionally semi-robotic and fully romantic one in Germany's Academy Award entry, I'm Your Man (Ich bin dein Mensch), from Unorthodox director Maria Schrader.

Pick your depressing disaster this week with a global level catastrophe in Y: The Last Man or a relationship at risk in Scenes from a Marriage. Also what makes a good James Bond film and Will Smith's awards history.

Ladies committing crimes is the theme of the week with Mary Elizabeth Winstead's Kate, Kristen Bell and Kirby Howell-Baptiste's Queenpins, and the LuLaRoe docu-series, LuLaRich.

A perfect way to mark a year of roundtable episodes is with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings! However for every high there must be a low, and we have two very low lows with Marvel's What If...? Doctor Strange Lost His Heart and the new Cinderella starring Camila Cabello.
