Apple's LLM, or MLLM, is here! Apple's AI team has been BUSY publishing whitepapers. Their recently published whitepaper on their ReALM (Reference Resolution as Language Modeling) is apparently outperforming GPT-4 in the area of context. Apple had also published a Whitepaper regarding their Multimodal LLM (MLLM), MM1, in which it is trained beyond simply text based, as the GPT models are largely built upon, but upon a text-image basis. Next-gen of Siri is expected to get quite the upgrade using these two toolsets.

So now we have Open AI's GPT, X's Grok (completely available on GitHub), Google's Gemini, and now Apple's MM1/ReALM as the monsters of GenAI industry.

Also, looks like Apple's intent is an open platform, as there are numerous references in making these community based to be built upon.

DATA IS KING! There may or may not be relevance to the substance of a recently revealed court filing (source linked below), in which Meta has been accused of allowing Netflix to utilize user's private DMs in order to enhance their recommendation systems. However, the filing (screenshotted) does discuss the use of Meta's data for training AI/ML models. We should understand by now the fuel that makes the engine (AI models) run is data, and Companies are simultaneously protecting their work products, while also seeking ways to gather more data to make their models more intelligent.

Now, knowing that companies like Alphabet, Meta, Snapchat, and so on have been using our data to enhance their business isn't something new. We all breeze and provide affirmative acceptance or accept through our use of their website (legal definition screenshotted) of the Ts & Cs without fully knowing what's in them (see South Park S15e1). However, the use of that data has mostly been within a narrow scope (e.g., ad recommendations). What will be interesting to see is how the Ts and Cs of these platforms that are so well engrained into our lives may adjust to allow the gathering of more and more data. In law, this is often referenced as a "slipperly slope," when something is allowed and continues to creep in a direction you may not want. Something to watch!

I always try and steer clear of "BS" productivity books, but this one caught my attention again when I saw it sitting so prominently at Ryan Holiday's (Author of Daily Stoic) Bookstore. So I gave it a read, and was pleasantly surprised by how valuable I found it. Highly recommend.

The time has finally come where the government steps in to keep an eye on things. This time, maybe it's not such a bad thing? Let's take a look at the new AI Act passed in an astounding 523-46 vote by European Parliament.

There's a healthy skepticism around artificial intelligence, but IBM's patent application is the first I've seen providing a scoring system of 'trustworthiness.' I believe this will be something that's going to be required in the future, as we rely upon these models to help provide positive impact on our every day lives.

H.R. Bill 7521 is a specific ban on social media's with 1,000,000 or more concurrent users over a 2 to 3 month ban, as determined by the President, but also specifically calls out ByteDance and TikTok. So what's it all about? And what effect will it have on the United States?

Elon and Sam Altman are at the forefront of what could be a significant milestone in the field of Artificial Intelligence, specifically Artificial General Intelligence. Elon's been a long supporter of responsible A.I. as it pertains to both the advancement and protection of humanity. As Sam and OpenAI gain massive marketshare and value in this space, Elon's worry is the divergence from the original intent of OpenAI - hence, lawsuit. Let's talk
