What does it mean to be born again? As we continue our exploration into John’s Gospel, we look at the conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus. In their meeting, under the cover of darkness, Jesus tells Nicodemus that he must be born again by water and the spirit. As we begin our exploration into John’s Gospel, we start with Jesus’ first miracle of turning water into wine at the wedding at Cana. Jesus has an incredible way of redeeming us, restoring us, and even transforming us. This story a reminder that, with God, we will never run out of blessing – there will always be more than enough wine. And even when it feels like we are running out, even when it feels like our cups are empty, even when it feels like our joy is gone, Jesus is telling us, “Don’t worry. The Holy Family become refugees as they flee Herod's wrath. This scene reminds us that we live in a world where there is still violence, repression and terror. We still live in a world where refugees are fleeing and needing protection. And this scene can also remind us that we too are called to a different place, and serve a different King. We are called to look beyond Herod to the child in the manger. We are to look at a refugee named Jesus. Associated Scripture: Matthew 2:13-23
