Part 12 of Revelation Bible Study

In week 2 of our Voices of Hope sermon series, we pause to look at the words of the prophet Malachi:

Malachi 3:1-4

See, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me, and the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple. The messenger of the covenant in whom you delight-- indeed, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears?

For he is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap; he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the descendants of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, until they present offerings to the Lord in righteousness. Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the Lord as in the days of old and as in former years.

How will this messenger purify the worship of God? Who could possibly be perfect high priest and sacrifice?

Jeremiah 33:14-16

14 “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. 15In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 16In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’

In the midst of dire calamity, the prophet Jeremiah offers a future prophecy of a renewal of the Davidic line.

Instead of being ashamed of Jesus as King, we should be thankful that Jesus is King.
