Pilgrims have a "variety of gifts but the same Spirit"

Water is an absolute necessity for life. We literally cannot live without a dependable supply of water. Water is also essential for our spiritual pilgrimage.

The Magi were pilgrims. They came to seek a king, not of their own religion or country of origin or ethnic background, but at the end of their pilgrimage they encountered God, and that changed their direction. We, too, can be pilgrims, and we, too, may encounter God, and that may well change our own direction!

When young Mary, very much pregnant, came to visit, Elizabeth could have had any of a number of reactions from pity, to anger, to giving Mary quite a lecture. She proved to be understanding and welcoming, though, and in response Mary spilled forth with a magnificent song.
