“Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Peter 1:20-21. We are beginning a brand new sermon series this Sunday entitled “Summer Postcards.” This sermon series is designed to help us explore some of the lesser-known books of the Bible. This will be a seven week series and will cover the Old Testament books of Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah and Micah. These six books are part of the “Book of Twelve” found in the Old Testament and are known as “Minor Prophets.” The name “minor” is simply a reference to their “length” and not their significance. Most importantly, each of these prophets teach us something about God, his nature and how he relates to his people and the world he loves. Join us this summer as we explore together some of the “shorter” books of the Bible in this special series called “Summer Postcards.” We will begin the series by exploring the book of Hosea this Sunday in a sermon that I have entitled “A Divine Drama.” Also, don’t forget about our VBS extravaganza that takes place at the building tonight at 7pm.
