On this day, we get so much more than presents under a tree. Today, we get to celebrate the best gift ever.

It would be silly to receive a gift and never open it. Yet that is how many people treat Christ. He may be nice in the Christmas packaging, but He is meant to be fully received into our lives.

I think one of the saddest verses about the Christmas story is John 1:11... "He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him." Why do people not receive Christ?

Some of the best gifts I have ever received have been ones that I didn't expect. I think that Christ coming to this world is the best gift ever, but He came in the most unexpected way.

In John 10 we see that Jesus participated in the Festival of Dedication (also known as Hanukkah). But more than just participate, Jesus used this holiday to show people who he really was/is.

Jesus celebrated many of the Jewish holidays. But more than celebrating, He showed how they pointed to Him and even redeemed them to mean something more. Today, we look at how Jesus used the Festival of Tabernacles, what it meant for early Jewish Christians, and what it means for us today.

Throughout the New Testament we find Christians who are rejoicing in their suffering. That is odd, yet at the same time quite Godly. When Christ is Lord of our lives, we are oddly blessed.

As Christians, we have a freedom that the world may not understand. We are "free to be odd". But Peter says that the reason we are free is because we are slaves. What does mean for our lives as citizens here?
