Jesus Christ (as the Messiah) is presented as the one who reconciles the cosmos and provides for our redemption.  As a result we are called to grow in our discipleship and be active in the church which is the harbinger of the new humanity.

Paul invites us to continually deepen our relationship in God.  This happens as we intentionally choose to ‘grow into the fullness of Christ’ through both our understanding and life of obedience.

The Advent of the Holy Spirit marks the rapid expansion of the church bringing new life to all who welcome the gift of the Spirit and align their lives with the person of Jesus.

Jesus breaks into our world ‘pitching his tent’ within the human story and by this reveals God’s love and desire for a loving, meaningful relationship with humanity.

Paul encourages the Philippian church that God's peace is known by disciplined 'thinking patterns', and ethical daily practice both empowered by the living Christ who dwells within us.  It is the power Christ within which enables us to be content in all situations.

Paul encourages the Philippian church to look to God in praise and prayer to overcome their prevailing response of stress and anxiety - such encouragement is also needed in our days of trepidation and a lack of stability.

Paul encourages his readers to keep pressing on and to finish the race.  The goal is resurrection life and is worth all of the effort and struggle in running the race.  Equally we are called to press on - not to give up or become distracted by lesser things.
