Westside Fairytales: Horror and Dark Fiction Stories

In chapter 7 of the Westside Fairytales horror and dark fiction podcast’s story Sin Carriers, as divides deepen between them, crew members will find themselves pulled into the gravity of different factions. Deceived by themselves or by others, these bonds may just as likely lead to bloodshed, as they do to brotherhood.

In chapter 6 of the Westside Fairytales horror and dark fiction podcast’s story Sin Carriers, our travelers recover from the aftermath of the Pinkerton attack and discover whether the few revelations about their pasts might hurt relations with the rest of the crew. Conversations are had amongst the drivers, the security personnel, and the VIPs about what’s to come as the bodies of the Pinkertons killed aboard the train are unceremoniously dumped into the desert. And all the while, the mysterious wood piles seem to exert their influence all the more over certain members of the crew.

This episode of the Westside Fairytales horror and dark fiction podcast’s Horror and Lit Club covers the 2022 horror film "Barbarian," a review that took so long to do because Tyler loves that movie that we had to cut the discussion of the recent adaptation of Neil Gaiman's "The Sandman." Next month, we'll be at the West Virginia Book Festival in Charleston, so stop by to say hi, buy a book, and get it signed!

On this episode of the Westside Fairytales horror and dark fiction podcast’s Horror and Lit Club, Tyler does a massive review of "The Black Phone," starring Ethan Hawke. It's based on a short story by Joe Hill, and, well, that's fairly obvious with all its failures. We also talk a bit about "The Hollow Places," a pretty decent eldritch horror novel from T. Kingfisher.

In chapter 3 of the Westside Fairytales horror and dark fiction podcast’s story Sin Carriers, a team of misfits embarks safely, heading east. With nothing but time on their hands, our disparate cast makes their introductions, both to us, and to each other. Some of these first meetings are friendly, others awkward, and at least one close to deadly. The shadow of the mysterious Rider looms tall over our travelers, and it's no great reach to believe the Pinkertons have yet to abandon their chase.

On this episode of the Westside Fairytales horror and dark fiction podcast’s Horror and Lit Club, Tyler talks at length about two movies of dubious quality: the absolute relic of 2000s horror, “Wrong Turn,” and an extremely dull modern cosmic horror thriller called “Vivarium.”
