As Christians, we don't define success the way the world does. While they might value money, fame, and power, we follow Jesus' standard for success. We should understand success as accomplishing and fulfilling everything that God has placed in our hearts and given us the ability to do. And this is God's will for all people. As God tells Joshua,
"Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:8-9)

We've all experienced terrible things and know of the history of evil in the world. So how is it that God is in control? This Sunday, Pastor Jonathan Rhodes teaches on the biblical doctrine of delegated authority—how humanity has been given control over the world by God's ultimate authority as its creator and owner. Let's dive in!

How do we deal with sin, fear, and the devil in our lives? Rather than procrastinating, neglecting, or simply being lazy, we need to actively deal with the powers of evil at work in our lives and the lives of those around us. Because of God's work in us, we can go after these evils and come out the victor!

When Gideon was preparing to go into battle completely outnumbered, God asked him to conduct a few tests to diminish his numbers even more. Rather than fighting with 32,000 men, Gideon had to fight with 300. But the important part about these men is that they were ready to fight. This Sunday, Jonathan asks us the same question: are we ready and prepared for the battles that we wage against spiritual strongholds?

This Sunday, Pastor Jonathan Rhodes encouraged our congregation on how and when to fight for one's relationship with Jesus. Rather than becoming (or staying!) complacent, let's take our relationship with God seriously, and allow him to dictate our actions!

What does it mean to 'believe' in Jesus? Can we expect to say a single prayer and then live opposed to him? This Sunday, our outreach pastor Cris McPhetridge talks about that very thing. All the New Testament authors and Jesus himself expected Christians to live differently after their conversion. As James says,
"I will show you my faith by my deeds." (James 2:18)

In 2 Chronicles 7:12, God tells Solomon:
"I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice... Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place."
This passage speaks of Solomon's Temple, but as Christians under the New Covenant, we know that our bodies are temples for the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19-20). So, we should be a people of prayer and sacrifice unto the Lord!
