Spending time in quietness and usually alone, drawing close to God and listening to him, pondering on his word, his creation, his mighty works or other aspects of his self-revelation.  

The biblical definition of the word meditate is to ponder, give serious thought and consideration to selected information, with a possible implication of speaking in low tones reviewing the material (Jos 1:8)  Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.  

"Meditation" in Hebrew means basically to speak or to mutter. When this is done in the heart it is called musing or meditation. So meditating on the Word of God day and night means to speak to yourself the Word of God day and night and to speak to yourself about it.  

Today I would like to discuss meditation. How to do it biblically and what the benefits of it can be.

You see in order to be a father you need to be a man. You don’t have to have fathered a child to be a fatherly influence on other men…but you do need to be a man.   You need to be a man that knows….

God calls Jonah a second time in the same way because he wants the lost saved. God has determined that his kingdom will come to the whole earth and that it will come to Nineveh through Jonah. When God opens his eyes to see the great need in Nineveh, Jonah does not want to see it.

God calls a second time because he wants the lost delivered and he wants human participation.  

Jonah wasn’t wrong in his though that the people of Nineveh would fall back in their sinful ways but the whole point of this book is that God is still willing to reach out.

From the introduction to Proverbs we learn that wisdom is something that can be taught and learned, that wisdom teaching has something to do with the formation of character, and that wisdom is anchored in a healthy fear of God. 

In other words, Proverbs explains to it’s readers how to build character with three pursuits under the banner of wisdom: holiness, knowledge and character.
