Mistress Vania Changes Jobs: Ep. 20 The Rewilding of Roger Sky.

Despite being dark Riko placed the dense black cloth bag over Roger's head. It hung loose at his neck to allow him to breathe. Roger was led up the stairs of the cellar and out of the house. There he was loaded into the rear seat of the Volkswagen estate. Shaped like a station wagon it had had lots of room, but Roger did not need it. He had been transformed. "I am so ready for this," said Roger, through his bag. They were going on a journey. Riko drove while Mistress Vania was a passenger in the front seat. They drove at a sedate speed that was consistent with sedate personality of their car. The suburban streets changed to fields and country roads, which later became a road in small wood. The car pulled off the road and drove some way down a rough track until it was too narrow for the car to go any further. Roger head the driver's door open. Then he heard his own door open. The cold night air breezed blew in across his knees. "Get out," ordered Riko's distinctive voice. "Leave the bag on your head. I'll guide you."

Mistress Vania made the final touches to Riko's new haircut. She was not a hairdresser, but Riko needed the haircut of a young man. What she had ended up with was a cross between a choppy bob and a short back and sides. The effect was striking. More importantly it was in no way feminine. Riko wiped down her whole body with a damp towel. The irritation of cut hair was something she particularly hated.

Riko had on her best sports bra and was uncharacteristically flat chested.

She went to a chair by the table. Arranged there were a man's three piece suit, a crisp white shirt and black leather shoes.

When she was dressed, Riko looked even less like a woman. The suit had been tailored for her and fitted perfectly. Her breasts were hardly visible, but the waistcoat of the three piece suit helped to break up the lines of her chest and disguise her true nature still further. Riko was a fully trained male impersonator. She had also completed extension masterclasses in Berlin. She could impersonate both gay and straight men.

Her augmented designer long-john style underpants went to her knees. The line of them was just visible through a slight interruption of the trouser leg when seated. The attention to detail was awe inspiring.

Riko had planted a listening device in the offices of The Hapten-Shufti Standard. However, this was not sufficient to record the conversation which occurred between Detective Rake and Amanda. The conversation had occurred in the reception area. It did detect a phone call between Amanda and Horace. This conversation was cryptic and not very helpful to Mistress Vania as she listened to it on her smartphone.

What could leave them in no doubt was the article that was to follow a few hours later. Priding herself on getting to press quickly Amanda had her story written and sent to Horace with the greatest of efficiency and speed.

As was expected Horace was overjoyed at the sensational nature of the story and the Nick Dunn tie-in. He matched it with a screaming headline: Kidney Kidnapping Crime Gang in Nick Dunn Frame Up.

Mistress Vania read the story with a look of real concern.

"This is not good at all," she said, handing Riko the computer tablet. "They have quite good descriptions for each of us. And the description of the Lexus is so accurate there is no choice in the matter. It will have to go. We cannot even risk driving it out of Hapten-Shufti."

"We must do something quickly," said Riko. "The people in this town are relentlessly stupid and curious. It is a bad combination."

"I know some Albanians," said Mistress Vania. "They are friends of a friend. I can make a call. If we leave the keys in the ignition it will be gone in a matter of hours. We can report it stolen later and claim on the insurance."

Mistress Vania Changes Jobs. Ep.17 Adventures in Fletcherism.

Roger was starting to smell. Riko took a bucket and sponge. She washed him with the care and attention usually reserved for a compact hatchback at a carwash. Roger lay on the ground to limit the chance of him slipping on the soapy floor. Riko wore her overalls and knee high Wellington boots. She moved Roger around with gentle kicks whereby he would roll in the direction indicated. With every inch of his body cleaned Roger was hosed down.

"That soap makes my skin feel so soft and fresh," said Roger, making conversation. "Is it something special?"

"It's dishwashing liquid," said Riko. "There was nothing else. It cuts through grease and kills lice."

"Cool," said Roger, not bothered that he was being treated like a dirty pot. "Is Mistress Vania coming down today?"

Riko did not answer. Instead she pointed the hose directly at Roger's head.

Mistress Vania Changes Jobs. Ep.16 Rake Comes to Visit

Riko prepared a mixture of lean chicken meat, finely chopped vegetables and rice. It was taken down to Roger in a plastic dish. The portion was small. Roger ate it quickly and found it insufficient. Raising the prospect of food in his mind, it was almost worse than eating nothing at all. His ravenous stomach's reaction to the tiny meal was extreme and resulted in instantaneous indigestion.

Riko had advised him to eat it slowly. This would make it last longer, aid digestion and allow him to enjoy it. It was advice he did not follow. Later he regretted not listening to Riko.

Riko's attitude to Roger was to liken him to a new pet animal. There was excitement at bringing him home, watching him adapt and react to his new habitat, followed by a more constant fascination in place of the initial buzz.

Riko was sure most of her animal pets had greater underlying intelligence than was possessed by Roger.

"He eats like a pig," said Riko, as she returned from the cellar to meet Mistress Vania's enquiring look. "And he doesn't listen to anything I tell him. If he was a pet dog, I would return him to the pet store and get a replacement."

When Mistress Vania arrived in the cellar, her latex suit shone like the paintwork on a new sports car. Bored with black she had decided on red for a change. Riko was dressed very much like a beautician at a day spa. The contrast between the two confused Roger. Usually he used their modes of dress as an indicator of what might happen next.

Initially he had been cold, however, over time he adjusted to being slightly damp, near naked and lying on the cold tiled floor.

"Being cold will help you burn more calories," explained Mistress Vania.

She said this as though she was recommending the benefits of eating fresh fruit and vegetables.

"I think I understand, sort of," began Roger. "You don't want my kidney or money. You want to use your dominatrix ways to make me thin."

"Not just make you thin," explained Mistress Vania. "Make you thin and make you like it. To stop you from going back to your old ways, stop you from getting fat again in a month. I can change the way people view themselves by domination, humiliation and punishment. I have always done this more generally with my clients. Now I want to apply it specifically to a given problem – obesity – and see if I can achieve the same results. Wholesale behavioral change. Food is the new sensuality. In my old work new avenues have been exhausted. At a party you can say you paid a dominant female a week's salary to strip you naked, cover you in beef gravy and spank you with a life sized rubber raccoon. No one will think worse of you. They'll just nod wisely. I blame the internet. However, go to the same party when you are severely overweight and you will be treated like a heretic in fifteenth century Spain. Making fat people thin is the greatest challenge I have ever undertaken. It is a new form of domination and I shall be a pioneer in this new territory."

Riko's eyes strayed from Mistress Vania to a large box that sat by her chair.

"It's addressed to you," said Mistress Vania, anticipating Riko's question. "I didn't open it."

"Perhaps it is my robot," said Riko, dropping everything and running to the package. "I ordered it from Japan. Express air courier. It can be used for both work and leisure."

Ep.13 Amanda Meets a Source

It was early in the morning and Grant Stoat was smoking his fourth cigarette of the day. He pined for Riko. He did not even know her name. So instead, when thinking about her, he called her my love.

Stoat was not unusual. Almost all men are at some point in their lives completely irrational over a woman. More commonly, they are irrational over any woman who gives them so much as a sideways glance. As for the women who are overtly hostile, they're just playing hard to get. At least in the mind of the man who is on the receiving end of the hostility.

For Stoat, Riko fell clearly into this last category.

She had given Stoat no positive signals of any kind. Far from being discouraged, Stoat had rationalized that since Riko was a woman, she did not know her true mind. It was a challenge to him that he might win her over.

In many ways Stoat and Roger suffered from a common problem. They overestimated how much attention women might pay to them. Neither of these two men had much to offer. Yet where hope was absent, delusion made a serviceable substitute.

Stoat believed that the stars were aligned and with true commitment and purpose he could win Riko's heart.

At the end of his nightshift delivering pizzas Stoat's brain was even more addled than usual. He made a vow to do whatever it took to impress Riko. To show her the real Grant Stoat, so that she might fall in love with him as he had fallen in love with her.

Stoat even decided that he would take a night course at community college if necessary.

Without knowing it, Stoat was becoming a problem.

Mistress Vania did not like problems.

Hank knew what it was like to be fat like Roger. Hank worked out and had ripped killer abs and his arms were massive. Yet it had not always been that way. Once Hank had been dumped by Daphne. It had hit him hard. He blamed her, then himself, then women generally and finally he blamed the world.

The world had a lot to answer for and he would show the world who was boss. What followed was a food binge that lasted three years.

It was brought to an abrupt halt with a medical emergency that ended in hospital with lifesaving surgery.

Then the rebuilding phase occurred with a new attitude to food and a new workout schedule. He returned to the world healthier and able to achieve his new goal which ended in him finding a semi-permanent girlfriend with body hair issues.

Ep.11 The Punishment Begins

Amanda drew a fish on her shorthand pad. It was heavily inspired by the cubism school of art and was done entirely in blue ballpoint.

The fact that Rake could achieve the exulted position of police detective in Hapten-Shufti was a poor reflection on the town. The police were set apart from the general public. The nature of the job made it that way. And as a journalist you expected to meet your fair share of weirdos. The overlap between the two groups in the form of Detective Rake was making Amanda's article more difficult to write.

Hapten-Shufti was still a complete mystery to her. She had lived all over the country. All of the other places she had visited seemed to follow some common basic rules. How different could Hapten-Shufti be from the rest of them?
