Jonah was able but not willing to go to Ninevah. He couldn't agree with God's compassion and mercy on the pagan Ninevites. Jonah learnt as much about God's compassion and mercy as the Ninevites did! Don't wait to be ready, step out when you hear God prompt you and benefit from God's one to one training alongside you on the journey! God is still sending us to the Ninevites!

Paul tells us here that because we are "In Christ" God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing, which John lists and elaborates from this passage! We really are truly blessed indeed!

Why do you believe? The crucifixion is an historical event but it is so much more than that. It changes our life and our eternity. We believe this because we have faith - faith, given by God, makes us sure of that which we hope for and certain of what we do not see!

Through this story we can learn a lot about the reactions of the main characters to the situation they found themselves in and particularly, Jesus' control of the situation and his voluntary surrender to the will of his Father.

Jesus said "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me." We know these things in our head but acting on them seems to be a hurdle many of us can't seem to get over! the disciples struggled too!

From this passage we see that Jesus knew where he had come from, where he was going and what God had given him to do. These are good questions to ask ourselves! Mick helps us to see how doing this can affect define ourselves and our purpose.

We have already received God's approval - not because of what we do but because of who we are........we are God's sons and daughters! When God looks at you he sees the perfection of his Son!

Are you walking in the light? Jesus explains what that means in this passage and demonstrates it in his life.

We can be thankful even in then midst of sorrow and difficulties. We need to know Jesus' Love, forgiveness and grace. That is our hope - our anchor to hold on in the storms!
