Britain’s new sanctions targeting Israelis have sparked outrage — but Melanie Phillips says the sanctions themselves may not be the most troubling part.

Erin Molan sits down with British journalist and author Melanie Phillips for a wide-ranging conversation about the UK government’s increasingly hostile posture toward Israel, Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband’s rhetoric, and what Phillips believes the consequences could be for Britain’s Jewish community.

Phillips argues that the demonization of Israel does not remain confined to foreign policy. She explains why she believes rhetoric coming from Britain’s political establishment is contributing to an increasingly hostile atmosphere for Jews at home — and why conversations once considered unthinkable are now taking place around Jewish Shabbat tables across the UK.

Erin also presses Melanie on a bigger question: does Ed Miliband genuinely believe the claims he is making about Israel and Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria? Melanie explains why she thinks he does — and why she considers that even more concerning.

The conversation then expands to Britain’s domestic crisis, mass immigration, the growing political influence of Islamist voting blocs, Nigel Farage and Reform UK, Kemi Badenoch, the split on the British right, and Melanie’s warning about what can happen when citizens lose faith in the democratic process.

The board-meeting angle: every one of these reports is simultaneously a safety disclosure and a capability advertisement. Publishing "our model was used to design a guided rocket" is a warning and a brochure at the same time — and the IPO is in a few months.
