Author interviews have long been a mainstay of the program - and one of the things that is so fun about doing such interviews is that I am often thrust into topics that are outside of my own personal experience or areas of interest -and I end up learning as much as the listeners learn, and perhaps more! Certainly that is often the case with books related to sports - such as the great classic FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS by Buzz Bissinger, which examined the place of high school football in the community of Odessa, Texas. The occasion of this conversation was the release of a special 25th anniversary edition of the book in 2015. This book is widely regarded as one of the finest books ever written about the world of high school football.

I've chosen a interview I recorded back in 2008 in the home of theater organ afficionado Fred Hermes- who converted the basement of his home into a facsimile of a classic movie palace, complete with a 5-manual Wurlitzer Theater Organ.

It was the idea of Mick Burke, who then was a reporter with the Racine Journal Times as well as a faithful Morning Show listener, for him to come to our studios and interview me about my work at the station.
