To honor the 50th anniversary of NPR and All Things Considered, we replay this 2006 conversation with Lisa Phillips about her book Public Radio: Behind the Voices- a collection of interviews she conducted with a number of public radio luminaries at the time.

From 2002: Jim Fleming, one of the most indispensable voices on Wisconsin Public Radio until his retirement in 2014.   Fleming did excellent work on both the Classical-News and Ideas Networks of WPR,  but is especially appreciated for his work in creating and hosting the program "To the Best of our Knowledge."  

Claudia Kalb, author of the new book "Spark: How Genius Ignites,  from Child Prodigies to Late Bloomers."   The book explores the life and legacy of 13 geniuses,  ranging from Leonardo da Vinci to Grandma Moses to Yo-Yo Ma.  

Andrew Dogan helps us preview the next concert of the Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra on May 8th- a concert that will feature an array of masterworks for string orchestra.   Dogan will be playing in the orchestra's viola section in the first half of the concert- for the second half, he will be on the podium as conductor.   

Amy Hart and Sonia Hill, from the Walworth County Health and Human Services Dept, talk about the new program that funds mental health specialists to go on certain police calls in which their presence and participation is deemed beneficial.  There are such liaisons stationed in both Delavan and Whitewater.  

Kurt Davis, author of "Finding Soul:  From Silicon Valley to Africa- a personal journey through twenty countries in Africa." 

Michael Blanding, author of "North by Shakespeare: a Rogue Scholar's Quest for the Truth behind the Bard's Work."   The book explores the work of self-taught scholar Dennis McCarthy, who is convinced that most of the plays attributed to William Shakespeare should be - at least in part - credited to Sir Thomas North. 

Tom Clavin, co-author of "Blood and Treasure:  Daniel Boone and the Fight for America's First Frontier."
