Travel in Vietnam opens our eyes to many different kinds of experiences.
Whether it’s exploring the mountainous areas of Vietnam visiting minority groups and staying in homestays; shopping in one of the big cities, or simply just visiting one kind of restaurant over another; all leave a lasting footprint on us, the people we meet and the environment we touch.
In today's episode, we are going to be talking about responsible tourism, impactful tourism, and social enterprise in Vietnam.
To open our eyes and our hearts to social enterprise there is no one better equipped to do so, than my guest today Jimmy Pham.
Jimmy Pham’s name is synonymous with social enterprise In Vietnam. As the founder of the KOTO organisation, Know One, Teach One, 23 years ago. Jimmy will tell us how one trip back to Vietnam changed his life.
As a Vietnamese Australian, Jimmy will share with us how social enterprise businesses are influencing change, and breaking the poverty cycle of millions in Vietnam.
Jimmy has earned many prestigious awards for his work with youth and communities including being awarded the Order of Australia back in 2013, as well as one of South Korea’s most coveted awards for philanthropy, the POSTCO TJ Park prize in 2017.
He is one of the top motivational speakers at Saxtons Speakers Bureau, and he is Vice President of Auscham Vietnam.
As a great influencer, he talks to us about ways in which we can leave “footprints in people’s hearts” and that by looking for those win-win scenarios we are impacting the future in a positive way.
I feel sure you are going to learn a lot about the ways we impact a country as a traveler, and that WE CAN BE PART OF “that positive change” when we visit Vietnam.
