In this episode, author Emily Locker talks about her brand new book, Running Mates, balancing life as a mother, writer, and therapist, the highs and lows of social media, and all the books and authors we love most.

Emily and I have been, apparently, running parallel but inverse lives, and it was super fun to talk about all the things we had in common, but reversed.

Emily Locker spent most of fourth grade persuading her friends to reenact scenes from Sweet Valley High. She recently returned to Washington where she lives with her husband and two young sons. When Emily is not writing or chasing after her "lively" boys, she works as a therapist in private practice. Running Mates is her first novel.

In this episode, I share an abridged version of a 2019 talk for A Tour of Her Own, celebrating young women who have changed the course of history (and were left out of most textbooks).

My name is Jackie Stewart. I have 10 years of experience as a public servant, at a handful of cities and counties in Florida and Washington state. Currently I'm a Public Records Analyst, but have previously worked in Parks, Fire, Police, HR and at a group home for foster children. I have my Master's in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida. 

 I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, but have lived in Seattle for almost two years now. I moved here for just a general desire for a life change. I have five nieces and nephews. Those kids have my whole heart.

 In my free time I can usually be found laughing at things on TV (currently in the middle of my annual Gilmore Girls re-watch for the Fall), on the phone with my family (my nephews give me motion sickness during our video calls!), texting my best friend Jennie, or working on my Duolingo streak (Spanish and French).

Katie is married and now lives in a cute little condo just outside Washington, DC, with her husband, two cats, and a lot of house plants.
